“Oh. Sorry.” Patriot coach caught cheating on the job

In this space, we have highlighted about the need for integrity at the workplace. Theft of time, fudging numbers and other falsehoods might work in the short run – but in the end, they cut short productivity.

The New England Patriots have been accused, caught, and fined for cheating. Using video cameras, they taped defensive signals by opponent’s coaches. NFL security confiscated a video camera and tape from a Patriots employee during New England’s 38-14 victory. The employee was accused of aiming his camera at the Jets’ defensive coaches as they signaled to players on the field. Some believe Patriots coach Bill Belichick has been doing this for a decade – or more.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick was fined $500,000 for the infraction. He said he was “sorry” and said that he “interpreted the rules differently.”

So, the question begs to be asked. In a world that is increasingly indifferent to moral “right and wrong,” will we see more of this? If we are not motivated to to the right thing on the job because ultimately, we work for God, then what hold’s us back. The rule of law? Rules? Getting caught?

How many more sports cheaters, Wall Street thieves, and corporate shenanigans will it take before we realize that there is another King?
