But wait a minute. Freedom of speech in the workplace is hitting the brakes. According to Philadelphia workplace and career columnist LESLIE WHITAKER,many companies are imposing limitations on speech. It seems what you can – and cannot say – now goes far beyond basic decency rules.
According to Whitaker, one prominent employment law firm advised its clients to forbid the following in their offices: “any reference to any part of an employee’s body, race, ethnicity, religion or disability.” 
So now this kind of talk is in poor taste. What constitutes talk about one’s body? “My eyes are sure watering,” and “I can’t get rid of that itchy,scratchy scalp.” Who defines what is acceptable?
And what is talk about “religion.” Could a simple mention of church attendance or a Bible Study group be grounds for company discipline?
