When work isn’t fun anymore

When work isn’t fun anymore August 14, 2008

I heard from a friend that “work wasn’t fun anymore.”

Was it a sign that things weren’t going well with the boss or the coworkers or customers? Was it a reflection of the duties? Or was it a reflection of a confused soul?

I’m not so sure that work is supposed to be “fun.” After all, that’s why it is called “work” and not “play” or “recreation” or “relaxation.”

We have a tendency in our society to always make sure the pleasure meter is running. If our partner doesn’t live up to ur expectations, if our friends don’t entertian us, if our kids don’t do what we want then we aren’t “having fun. “
But life is more than happiness. Sometimes it’s meant to be gritty and dirty, tough and calloused. Sometimes it can only be lived with sweat and pain, suffering and agony.

On the other side of the ledger it can sweet and light, pleasurable and joyful, wonderful and fulfilling.

It can even be fun.
Please, share with a friend if you feel moved.
