Quick Verse Study-2 Nephi 1:7 Him Whom He Shall Bring 2020-02-08T19:03:00-10:00

In Quick Verse Study-2 Nephi 1:7 This Land Is Consecrated Unto Him, I wrote a few quick thoughts about how the American continent is consecrated by God to whomever He brings to the land and how one meaning of that could include introducing people to the land at the time that the land becomes sanctified and celestialized.

Here’s 2 Nephi 1:7.

Wherefore, this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them; wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever.

Him Whom He Shall Bring

If Earth is consecrated in preparation for him whom he shall bring, who will He bring?

Immediately the Parable of the 10 Virgins came to mind.

Matthew 25

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, know you not.

The scriptures offer more specifics of who will inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:5

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Psalm 37:9, 11, 22

[T]hose that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

Doctrine and Covenants 56:18, 20

But blessed are the poor who are pure in heart, whose hearts are broken, and whose spirits are contrite, for they shall see the kingdom of God coming in power and great glory unto their deliverance; for the fatness of the earth shall be theirs. …

And their generations shall inherit the earth from generation to generation, forever and ever. And now I make an end of speaking unto you. Even so. Amen.

We can be in the hosts that come from heaven with the Lord or are caught up to meet Him when He comes again!  A major theme of the scriptures and living prophets are to prepare a people who are ready to be “him whom he shall bring!”
