About Nicholas

Br. Nicholas Bartoli is a monk with order of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist (SSJE). He joined the community in August of 2013, and was life professed on February 23, 2019. He works as community treasurer, IT brother, and infirmarian among other responsibilities. He is active is providing spiritual direction, leading retreats, and offering instruction to small groups.

His education background includes a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics, a master’s degree in environmental studies, a master’s degree in somatic counseling psychology, and two years of a master’s of divinity program. He also has studied massage therapy, yoga, and the Hakomi method of psychotherapy.

Br. Nicholas has previously worked as a teacher, computer technology administrator, a massage therapist, a yoga instructor, and as a psychotherapist. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Fiji, and has danced professionally with a modern dance company.

His interests include contemplative prayer and meditation, science-related news, good beer, and helping people find rest in the nondual awareness of God’s Kingdom.
