The Apathetic Mysteries

The Apathetic Mysteries April 22, 2016

I wrote this on an old abandoned blog site, before I got on Patheos. It seems like as good a time as any to re-up it:

1.  Jesus is asked to do something.

John 2:1-4: On the third day there was a wedding* in Cana* in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” [And] Jesus said to her, “Woman, how does your concern affect me? ”

2. Jesus ditches everyone.

Mark 1:36-38: Simon and his companions went to look for him.
When they found him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you.” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else”

3. Jesus Takes a Nap.

Mark 4:37-38: A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion.

4. Jesus ignores the crowd.

Luke 4:30: But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.

5. Jesus doesn’t feel like helping.

Matthew 15:25-26: “The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
