Right Wing Watch links to some of the fevered reactions from the wingnuts over Tuesday’s appeals court ruling that upheld the lower court decision striking down Prop 8 in California. It’s just one primal scream after another, each one more ridiculous than the last. It’s an attack on freedom, democracy and civilization itself that will, naturally, bring down the wrath of their imaginary friend on all of us. Here’s my favorite:
“As sweeping and wrong-headed as this decision is, it nonetheless was as predictable as the outcome of a Harlem Globetrotters exhibition game,” said Brian Brown, NOM’s president. “We have anticipated this outcome since the moment San Francisco Judge Vaughn Walker’s first hearing in the case. Now we have the field cleared to take this issue to the US Supreme Court, where we have every confidence we will prevail.”
There’s nothing “sweeping” about the ruling at all. Quite the opposite. It’s an intentionally very narrow ruling designed specifically to avoid Supreme Court review. And I suspect it will work. I like this one, from the Alliance Defense Fund:
We are not surprised that this Hollywood-orchestrated attack on marriage–tried in San Francisco–turned out this way.
Could you put a few more boogeymen in there? Or try making an actual legal argument rather than this silly tripe? And you know they can’t go without at least one bit of homoerotic imagery. From Gary Bauer:
Here’s the bottom line: The culture war is real. The left does not intend to allow these issues to be decided by the people in their respective states. It will use the courts to force its radical agenda down our throats.
