Michigan Bigot Wants Republican Unity

Michigan Bigot Wants Republican Unity December 10, 2013

Dave Agema is a former state representative here in Michigan and now he is one of the state’s two members of the Republican National Committee. He’s extremely far right in every imaginable way and incredibly bigoted against gay people. Little surprise that he loves the Tea Party:

“We cannot win without the independents and the Tea Party, so get over it, folks,” Agema said. “You’re going to have to get along with those folks.”…

He said the Democratic Party is big on trying to get the Republican Party and the Tea Party to split.

“Don’t let them do it,” he said. “We should be saying, ‘We’re not divided. We’re just united against Obama’ … and we don’t want any kind of leaders in leadership positions that have voted for the garbage he has passed.”

So the only thing they can unite around is that they’re against Obama. That’ll make a good platform. And as always, he had to throw in at least one moronic and bigoted statement:

He said among his priorities is protecting traditional marriage.

“I stand for traditional marriage, no homosexual ones,” he said. “… The family unit is the basic unit in society. When you tear the family apart, you tear the country apart.”

Which is why he works so hard to prevent the formation of more families and deny those protections to families headed by gay people. Because families are great.

He has taken flak nationally for his stance against gay marriage, but he said he doesn’t mind because while working at American Airlines, he saw firsthand what happens when benefits are extended to gay people.

He said American Airlines workers would say a person with AIDS was their lover so that person could get medical benefits.

“Folks, they (gay people) want free medical because they’re dying (when they’re) between 30 and 44 years old,” he said. “To me, it’s a moral issue. It’s a Biblical issue. Traditional marriage is where it should be and it’s in our platform. Those in our party who oppose traditional marriage are wrong.”

Ah yes, that old lie about gay people dying in their 40s, from a ridiculously invalid “study” by fraudulent bigot Paul Cameron. Reality simply does not matter to these people.
