In the big right-wing split between those who are pro-Putin and those who are anti-Putin, Cliff Kincaid is staunchly in the former group. And in an interview with the unhinged Frank Gaffney, he opined that President Obama may in fact be a Russian agent. His “reasoning” is hilariously stupid.
Uh, Snowden ended up in Russia because that was the only country with a leader who hates Obama enough to protect him from American agents. The only reason he needs to hide is because Obama continues to demand that he return and be arrested and face charges of espionage and treason for the “crime” of revealing the government’s massive violations of the Constitution. If Kincaid really thinks Obama, Snowden and Putin are involved in some kind of conspiracy to protect Snowden, that’s just plain deranged.
He then implied that President Obama himself could be part of this “infiltration,” saying that it was “no accident” that Edward Snowden “ended up in Moscow” and citing conspiracy theories around labor activist Frank Marshall Davis, who was a friend of the president’s family when he was growing up, to claim that the president was “mentored as a youth by a pro-Soviet Communist Party operative.”
(There is an alternate birther theory that holds that Davis was in fact Obama’s real father, but Kincaid is among those who believe that Davis merely mentored Obama to become a communist.)
“[F]rankly our NSA should be monitoring our own president,” Kincaid said.
