Swanson: Hunger Games Preparing Us for Holocaust

Swanson: Hunger Games Preparing Us for Holocaust December 3, 2014

Kevin Swanson, quite possibly the most bizarre person in right wing talk radio (though Rick Wiles may have something to say about that), thinks the Hunger Games movies are designed to prepare Americans for a new Holocaust that will happen in the next few decades.

“This is warming us up to murder,” he said, warning that the films may train children to slaughter American Christians just as Jews were massacred in Nazi Germany. “This is warming us up to the ethical decisions that tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions of American kids are going to do when it comes time for the Nazis to kill the Jews or when the Americans need to kill the Jews or when Americans need to kill Christians.”

“Whatever it needs to be, whatever it’s going to be in the next twenty to thirty years, this is an excellent way, this is a tremendous way to prepare hundreds of millions of children, even Christian children and homeschool children for the kind of murder we may see in the future,” he said.

Yep, of course. Annnnnny minute now, we’re gonna start murdering Christian by the tens of millions. Stop laughing! It’s gonna happen!

Seems to have missed the better “hidden message”, that it’s an attempt to teach the poor that they need to rise up and violently overthrow the 1%.

  • Are there even hundreds of millions of children in the US? I guess it’s possible given there’s 300+ million people in the country as a whole. Childstats.gov suggests around 74 million, give or take a few hundred thousand. So, uh, yeah.

Where are all the extra children coming from? Are they Obama’s ISIS-Ebola immigrants from Latin America?

Twenty to thirty years? Over that period of time a million frightwing memes will have come and gone. Christ, by then even BEGHAZI!!11 will have been forgotten*.

*Not that you average ‘winger even knew where it is to begin with.

  • Now review that One Direction movie!

And the Twilight movies are training children to become vampires and drink the blood of Christians.

    Doesn’t everybody know that?

Maybe the Hobbit movies are preparing children for when elves and fairies invade from Canada?

  • John Hinkle

Maybe Swanson got his training from the Dumb and Dumber movies.

Sure, and Interstellar is about how global warming and crop diseases will make Earth uninhabitable, and we’ll all be forced to live in space colonies — regimented in big tin cans for the rest of time!

It gets worse than that. In December 2015, we’ll be taught how the Force awakens and creates the Dark Lords of the Sith, who take over not just this world but the galaxy, and even destroy entire living planets at a whim to keep the population servile.

  • Azkyroth Drinked the Grammar Too :)

…the fuck? The Hunger Games basically depict the society the Right wants.

“… or when Americans need to kill Christians.”

I’m starting to feel the need right now, and I’ve never even watched Hunger Games.

The author of The Hunger Games took the story from the Greek myth of Theseus. That’s how long the story has been around, and it doesn’t seem to have worked to prepare any children, from any time or place, for mass murder.

Bible stories have much better track records, it’s all they’re good for, actually.
