FFRF Ends Coach-led Prayer at University of Toledo

FFRF Ends Coach-led Prayer at University of Toledo June 22, 2015

The FFRF recently sent a letter to the University of Toledo objecting to the football coach there leading his team in pre-game prayers and the university has now told him not to do so anymore. Campus Reform, a conservative group, doesn’t like it but they do report on it:

The University of Toledo announced this week that it will no longer allow head football coach Matt Campbell to lead the team in pregame prayers.

In a statement sent by the University to Campus Reform, Campbell detailed how players will now “determine on their own any personal preparation methods to help them mentally prepare to play.”

The end of coach-led prayers came after a video surfaced from the Toledo locker room showing Coach Matt Campbell leading the team in the Lord’s Prayer before a 2012 game against Bowling Green.

Of course, war on Christianity, blah blah blah. But this little gem in the comments by one Bruce Bratton made me laugh:

This is from that idiot Mikey weinstein. Someone needs to kick the crap out of him.

Mikey, of course, had nothing remotely to do with it. He’s the founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, not the Freedom From Religion Foundation. But they all look alike, amirite? And an A+ for the violent response. If he’d like to try to kick the crap out of Mikey, I’d like to be there to watch. Let’s just say Mikey is not a guy I’d try to mess with. If he didn’t get you, his bodyguard, who is big enough to block out the sun, would.
