‘Libertarian’ Endorses Roy Moore

‘Libertarian’ Endorses Roy Moore October 19, 2017

Rand Paul, the allegedly “libertarian” senator from Kentucky, has endorsed Christian fascist Roy Moore. Because what could be more “libertarian” than endorsing a man who thinks gay people should be imprisoned or murdered by the state?

On Tuesday, the Judge Roy Moore for U.S. Senate Campaign announced the endorsement of U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky). Senator Rand Paul has served in the United States Senate for six years and has earned a reputation for his stalwart defense of the Constitution, limited government, and fiscal conservatism.

“Judge Roy Moore has spent a lifetime defending and standing up for the Constitution while fighting for the people of Alabama. We need more people in Washington, D.C. that will stand on principle and defend the Constitution,” Senator Rand Paul said Tuesday. “I look forward to welcoming him to the Senate very soon.”

Roy Moore? Defending the Constitution? On principle? In what universe, exactly? What Moore defends is the totalitarian, theocratic King James Version of the Constitution that exists only in his head. Remember, this is a man who said in an Alabama Supreme Court ruling, “The State carries the power of the sword, that is, the power to prohibit conduct with physical penalties, such as confinement and even execution. It must use that power to prevent the subversion of children toward this lifestyle, to not encourage a criminal lifestyle.” It’s difficult to imagine anything more blatantly contrary to libertarianism than that. Rand Paul, you no longer get to call yourself that. You’re a fraud.
