In the least shocking and most predictable story ever, the guy sending bombs to more than a dozen prominent critics of Donald Trump turned out to be a big fan of Donald Trump. Truly astonishing. I mean, how could anyone have possibly predicted such a thing? It’s a mystery wrapped in a conundrum shoved inside an enigma, the turducken of inexplicable outcomes.
On the Internet and in real life, Cesar Sayoc was not shy about broadcasting his support for Donald Trump and his contempt for those the president might consider enemies.
He plastered stickers across his white van — supportive of Trump — alongside images of the president’s critics with red targets over their faces and a large decal that read “CNN sucks.” On Twitter, the 56-year-old trafficked conspiracy theories and ranted about liberal billionaire George Soros, former president Barack Obama, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and others whose politics were out of line with his.
And of course, the moment he was arrested, the folks screaming “FALSE FLAG! IT WAS A DEMOCRAT FUNDED BY SOROS BEHIND IT ALL!” either went dead silent or decided it was just some lone wolf crazy person who had nothing to do with Trump at all. Like our old pal Dinesh D’Souza, who had made multiple tweets when the bombs started arriving about the “fake mail bombs” and how “the media left are masters of distortion, deflection & deception.” When Sayoc was arrested, he went silent for a few hours. Then this:
With all the demented loons on their side, we may have to concede there is at least one demented loon on ours #bombscare— Dinesh D'Souza (@DineshDSouza) October 26, 2018
Funny, until he was arrested it was a huge media-wide plot to subvert Donald Trump. After he was arrested, just some lone “loon” without any ideological purpose at all in mind. And all the other lone wolves too, like the other man in Florida who is in jail after threatening to murder senators who voted against Brett Kavanaugh, and the one in California who threatened to murder everyone in the Boston Globe newsroom, quoting Trump verbatim about the press being the “enemy of the people” in the process. It’s starting to sound like a pack of “lone” wolves, isn’t it?
And of course, D’Souza can’t just come out and say “I was wrong.” He follows his hero Trump, who never, ever admits to being wrong because that would show “weakness.” Reality? Psshaw. We don’t need no stinking reality. Others who pushed this ridiculous conspiracy theory have just clammed up and gone silent. Some have extended their theories even further. That’s the beauty of a conspiracy theory, it can accommodate any set of evidence whatsoever if you’re willing to not care about the truth at all. I’m sure we’ll soon hear about how he was an MK Ultra subject who was planted with this secret mission by the Deep State long ago and it was triggered by the words “squee” and “boofing.”
