When You’ve Lost Brian Kilmeade… January 12, 2019

Donald Trump backed down just slightly on his threat to declare a state of emergency over immigration at the Mexican border and one has to wonder if it’s because even Brian Kilmeade, the second dumbest man on television and host of his favorite show on Fox News, slammed him over the idea.

Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade slammed an “inept” President Donald Trump for threatening to declare a national emergency to get his border wall, saying it would set a precedent that would come back to haunt conservatives…

“It would just be a disaster in the big picture,” he said. “It would just show us as inept and unable to govern around the world.”

“It would set a terrible precedent,” Kilmeade continued. “The next president, if it’s a liberal president, will say ‘the next state of emergency is climate change.’”

Actually, I doubt this was the real reason he appears to be backing off. I think it’s more because influential Republicans from states that benefit from the disaster relief aid he was planning to divert to fund the wall urged him not to do so. The last thing Ted Cruz wants is to tell the people of Houston that they can’t get any help recovering from the hurricane because Trump took the money to build a wall instead. Likewise Marco Rubio and Gov. DeSantis of Florida. But nothing is ever set in stone with Trump. He could plow right ahead and do it anyway on a whim, like he does everything else.
