This is a few days old but I missed it when it first happened. When interviewed by Piers Morgan, who is nearly as loathsome as he is, Trump told a couple whopper lies about the incident with hiding the SS John McCain so as not to hurt his little feelings, then lied again to justify why he didn’t like McCain (as it that even mattered).
The first lie was that he said he wasn’t sure that the coverup of the name had ever happened at all — after his own administration had admitted to it and justified it in the press, including sending Mick Mulvaney on the Sunday morning talk shows.
“First of all, I didn’t know anything about it, but I’m not even sure it happened,” Trump told Piers Morgan on “Good Morning Britain.” “I hear it’s fake news. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.”
As for McCain, the Republican president added, “I was not a fan. I didn’t like what he did to health care. I didn’t like how he handled the veterans – because I got ‘em choice and he was always unable.”
He is referring to a law that allows veterans to go to private doctors and have the VA pay for it if they can’t get in to see a VA doctor within a certain period of time or would have to drive a certain distance to see one. It’s called Veterans Choice. And when did it pass? In 2014, signed into law by Obama. And who sponsored the bill? Imagine that — John McCain. Trump lies, then lies to justify the lies, then lies and pretends he didn’t lie, then starts over and lies all over again.
