Where others see “Fall from Grace”.. I see the FIRST fissures within Al Qaeda! While Zawahiri in Iraq is hell bent on fighting US forces and their Iraqi workers.. (which does include suicide attacks on civilians as critical part of the strategy!), Osama here stresses otherwise! He talks of not killing of Muslims BY Muslims! Now that is significant in my view!
Second, to think that Osama is in the hills is a bit naive! The last guy who was caught in Pakistan – that SECOND No. 2 (there have been half a dozen – so much for the American public’s fleeting memory!!) – Khalid Mohammad…. he was caught NOT on Afghan/Pak border BUT in Rawalpindi – a suburb of Islamabad! Its like saying that some gang fighters fighting in the caverns of El Paso are caught in Virginia!!
And caught where and how?? IN a plush hotel with cameras in toe! So.. . in a country where every body and his bro is Al Qaeda sympathizer.. the ISI had the brainwave to call up the TV station and ask for a cameraman to come to film this entire episode!! PUHLEEEEAZE! Musharraf can fool the ignorant Western analysts… but for people who live in that world.. its ONE HECK OF BS!
So, my conviction is that Osama is probably sitting in a plush hotel somewhere well enconsed in a Pakistani city – courtesy ISI – having fun with some of the virgins “borrowed” from his heaven that he is convinced that he will “ascend” to! 😉
