Breaking News: Earthquake in Mozambique! February 23, 2006

Another Natural disaster!

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 has struck Mozambique, the US Geological Survey (USGS) in Denver, Colorado, said Wednesday.

The earthquake, centred about 530 kilometres north of Maputo, occurred at 12:19 a.m. Thursday (22:19 GMT Wednesday), the USGS said in a news release.

No reports of damage or casualties have been received, but the earthquake may have caused damage because of its location and size, the release said.

The earthquake was felt in Mutare, Zimbabwe’s third largest city on its eastern border with Mozambique. The tremor lasted for about an hour, according to people who live in Mutare. link
