Al Qaida and Asimov!

I happened to read this blog post on desicritics.org – the post was awesome.. but there were these comments by Sumanth – that caught my eye! Interesting stuff..

One Russian translated the “Foundation Series” by Isaac Asimov into Arabic.

Do you know, its title in Arabic when translated from Russian?

It is Al-Quaida. So, the Arabic volumes of “Foundation” is known a “Al-Quida” since decades and a lot of similarity was found between the operation of this Big virtual organisation and Harry Seldon’s foundation. This included the periodic presentations of simulations of Harry Seldon Himself as Simulcrums, whenever there was a Seldon crisis.

Distributed Fault tolerant organic systems can have much more sophisticated working models. The ideology, the physical and mental warriers can redefine infowar.

and the in the subsequent comment he writes about system dynamics:

The “system dynamics” today is quite unique compared to what happened in last 5000 years.

1) System is highly energized today with possibility of usage of enoromous force in focused spots.

2) Its highly interconnected today. Will this kind of connectivity ultimately lead to Gaia?

3) The transition from agricultural to industrial civilisation took at least 100 years.
The present transition is of same size, but it has to happen in just 10 years.

4) The stimuli a person experiences today can be more than 1000 times of stimuli a person used to experience in whole life 100 years back. That can change behaviour of a human drastically.

Its like comparison between a PC in 1995 (which used to have 16Mhz, 20mb HDD, 360kb Ram) and a Home PC in 2006.

For the first time in human history, the society needs the maximum number of designers to design a new society, culture and civilisation. This has to happen as society starts cannibalising its existing modules. Most battles will get too nasty.
