We all know that the US telecom companies are into charging for the Internet traffice that was hitherto free. They have realized that the VoIP is here to stay and is a major threat to their mainstay – the domestic long distance – as well as going to hurt the international long distance! So they are tripping over each other to get into this area.. and hopefully do something value-added!
Cingular Wireless plans within the next year to offer a service allowing customers to share videos with each other and talk at the same time, a top executive said on Wednesday.
“It’s a video share service where you can show a video while talking about it,” Cingular’s Chief Technology Officer Kris Rinne said on the sidelines of the Yankee Group Wireless Leadership Summit.Like its rivals, Cingular, a venture between AT&T Inc. and BellSouth Corp., is pushing services such as mobile video and picture swapping fir cellphones as it hopes to boost its business beyond voice services.
