Indian State Government wants its dead employee to work harder! January 4, 2008

People at the helm in Indian Government and Bureaucracy are by default dumb and idiots! They need proofs for living people and cannot believe death certificates of those who are dead!

Every year a person who draws Government pension has to prove that he/she is alive through a Life Certificate. Signing at the bank isn’t enough!

Now, here is an example of Orissa Government issuing a stinker to its employee in the Civil Supplies department – Jabir Khan, who died last year – saying he needs to:

1. Improve his attendance
2. Tour his working area more often.

This is so because his bosses believe that he has been rather irresponsible in conducting his duties on the job – specifically: “irregular in attendance and cannot take responsibility”

Its another matter that the deceased’s family had submitted his death certificate to the Government 9 days after his death. But in a country where a person is believed to be basically the indestructible soul, is it too much to expect from a dead employee to be regular on his job?? 🙂
