Are you on Facebook?  Are a lot of people viewing, liking and commenting on your posts?  Do you share a lot of your self-disclosures out there? Well, you may be getting as good a deal as sex.  Or food.  So says a Harvard study. The reward given by a person’s brain when a Facebook posting of theirs is viewed, liked and commented on has proven to be comparable in pleasure to the response from food and sex, according to a... Read more

A debate goes on about how men and women cheat.  It is often said, based on various studies, that men cheat far more than women.   Like this study: Recent studies reveal that 45 or 55 percent of married women and 50 to 60 percent of married men engage in extramarital sex at some time or another during their relationship. Looking at such studies, people often ask, how come more men cheat vs women.  The math doesn’t add up.  Well,... Read more

One of my bosses once said, “you should give people a long enough rope, so they can go and hang themselves”.  When the rope is being given, it seems like a cruel joke on ones ownself.  But then the guy who is predisposed to stupidity eventually succeeds for you.  Pakistan is one such guy. India, not because it wanted to, but because it had a lot of inept rulers and few smart administrators, gave Pakistan a rather long rope.  When... Read more

Since Maj Nidal Hasan shot down 13 fellow soldiers, the US agencies have stepped up the surveillance of those related to US Defense.  It has now come to light that over 100 “Islamic Extremists” are being investigated within the military community.  This includes the active soldiers, but those with access to military facilities including dependent ID cards for entry. Law of Karma is quintessentially the discovery and gift of Indian Spiritual traditions – collectively called as Sanatana Dharma. Much before any other religion had even been conceived, the Sages of India knew of the how Action, Result and Reaction chain worked in a being’s life and beyond. One’s action and the results one came face to face with were connected. How, one didn’t knew except for the deep dimensional understanding of how this cosmic law worked and how it... Read more

Rajesh Khanna was India’s first Super Star. Some say he could do with his eyes what other men couldn’t do with their entire body. His mannerisms, his smile, his dialog delivery, the way he would look on when someone had already left the scene, his way of sharing pain and his simple but good looks. He was my first favorite of all the heros in Bollywood. I would wait to see his movies on Doordarshan when the movie would come... Read more

By Rakesh Krishnan Simha A new study from Kerala looks at the uncanny genetic similarity between Ezhavas of Kerala and the Jat Sikhs of Punjab. The connection is yet another pointer to the broader genetic weave that has shaped modern Europeans and Indians. In this backdrop should we persist with the divisive Aryan vs. Dravidian theory? Among Britain’s colonial contributions in India, the Aryan Invasion Theory (AIT) ranks as the most enduring. While the idea has been discredited in serious... Read more
