Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram – the downfall and upswings are BOTH part of the Truth

Satyam Shivam Sundaram - is a mantra that is very popular in the Hindu philosophy. It is often translated as "Truth is God and God is Beautiful" - where Satyam is translated as Truth, Shivam as God and Sundaram as Beautiful. Unfortunately this translation exposes our prejudiced view of "God". We want - desperately really - God to be beautiful and have that air of piety and holiness and something "divine" as we define it. But is God only beautiful? And that's where my interpretation of this mantra differs. Shivam in Hindu pantheon is the embodiment of all that is not-beautiful with the world. In fact, Shiv is supposed to have drank the poison of the world so world could be free. He holds in him the poison and the seeds of destruction. So to me Satyam Shivam Sundaram means - Truth is both beautiful and non-beautiful! Satyam is a synonym of "God" primarily and inherently, so there is no reason to bring in any additional word for God. This gives some insight into what is going on in the more mundane Satyam - the software services company from India. It is easy and very fashionable for all to bring out the evil of the fallen and eulogize the one who is up and growing. It is because for us, God is beautiful and Satan is Ugly. Both are incomplete. Much more real than DVD’s depicting amazing beautiful places in many foreign lands, because we would once more fully experience not only the sights and sound, but the atmosphere belonging to these places. Also to be able to touch and smell their particularities of such places. Amazing right? Well it is more easily reachable that we dare to think. It is when we allow our soul personality to freely manifest all their attributes, skills, qualities and divine gifts we slowly and safely begin to be witness at a three hundred and sixty degrees plus above and below these world wonders once more. Liked this story a lot.. specially in my current situation.. I really think this is very true. Will get back to normal writing soon.. The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. But the water close to Japan has not held many fish for decades. So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went further than ever. The further the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring the fish. If the return trip took more time, the fish were not fresh. To solve this problem, fish companies installed freezers on their boats. They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea. Freezers allowed the boats to go further and stay longer. However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen fish. And they did not like the taste of frozen fish. The frozen fish brought a lower price. So, fishing companies installed fish tanks. They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin. After a little thrashing around, they were tired, dull, and lost their fresh-fish taste. The fishing industry faced an impending crisis! But today, they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan . Read more

How much self-improvement will we experience during our next birthday?

It has been a good idea to make resolutions every new year, but it has been an excellent idea to reinforce these resolutions on the first days after each of our birthdays. I was extremly lucky to have found a very reliable spiritual guide regarding human beings life cycles when I was just sixteen years old. As I've told you several times since I was a small child I felt like an old soul trapped in the body of a small boy. I sensed that besides knowledge man could access Divine inspiration to guide his life. Now I know that nothing occurs by mere chance. Three books marked my destiniy; an old Philosophy book which I read and studied in my previous life, a Yoga book which brough pleasant memories from beautiful India and a RAJA YOGA book which taught me the power of mind over matter, plus some amazing mystical moments on which I felt connected with our spiritual world for very brief moments, but that left strong inner convictions, for example; to posses a healthy body in order to have a sound mind, not to ever drink neither smoke and much less doing drugs. These virtues or qualities made my life easier for what came just I reached age ninteen years old. I must make an important point clear. I never felf special neither superior in any way. I knew that was my path in this very interesting current life. Read more

Tough times hit home

Today in the morning, I got a reminder of how bad the economy is when I got the message that I was no longer with my company. It is just one of those things about which you cannot do a whole lot - just that the time is bad. Finding another job would not be easy and most companies are not even offering jobs. But for me it was a strange feeling of "rejection" as well as of "freedom"! This is the first time this happened with me but it gave me the feeling that now, I could reinvent myself! Read more
