Anand Math is based on Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's novel. It is famous for the song Vande Matram. But I have always been haunted by how Prithviraj Kapoor (Satyananda) keeps chanting "Hare Murare". This song - Jai Jagdish Hare - is just amazing and haunting... specially Geeta Dutt's voice. Only she could sing this way and give this effect. There was another such song in Pyaasa (Aaj sajan mohe ang laga lo). But this one with music from Hemant Kumar (in my view, one of the most underestimated Music Composer) is just brilliant! Read this post by temporal and also have gotten the views of many Pakistanis on the lot of their country today... there seems to be a common theme - someone "outside" is messing "us Muslims" up - because otherwise we are "not like that". That maybe right, but some no one can hit you if you don't let the other do that easily. I sincerely think one thing that Pakistanis need to learn is to take responsibility for their lot. The rules seems to be: 1. If anything goes right in the country, it is because they did it. 2. If something goes wrong, it is because the Westerners or outsiders did it. 3. But if something "good" happened and outsiders were involved, it is because Pakistanis "forced" them to do that "good". 4. And if something "wrong" happened and the Pakistanis did it.. it is because the Westerners or outsiders FORCED them to do it! Kinda like a dependency mentality. Terrorism is mainstream today, let someone .. a common man get up and say.. I fucked up when Jinnah (Direct Action Day of 1946), Zia (Khalistan/Kashmir terrorism) and others played with fire everytime and I supported them in the name of Allah!! "Allah the merciful" ki duhai bahut pehle dee jaani chahiye thi.. its too late now! Read more

Time management is always a pain! Here are some excellent tips from various people on how they do their work. Ultimately, prioritizing and doing the work is the most important differentiator. I write down my to-do list for the week under different client headings. I "star" the hot items that absolutely must be done and then highlight those that are hot for that specific day. By midday, if I have not worked through most of those that are highlighted, I circle the ones that I must get done by day's end. While it may seem anal, I have to say it works. I have a few co-workers that have adopted my legal-pad "bible." (Maria Reitan, MN) Here is another way to prioritize: I write lists of "must haves" and "let gos." That way I can see what has to be done and what I can let go of. If I didn't write it down, I couldn't prioritize. (Jennifer Skipper, WA) And here are some more tips Read more

In north-west Queensland state of Australia, the mayor of Mt Isa, John Molony found his town has a dispropotionately higher male population vs females (5:1). So, logically he thought that here is an opportunity for the not-so-coveted lonely women in other towns to move here and still find mates. Makes sense? 🙂 The mistake - he even declared it - "with five blokes to every girl, may I suggest that beauty-disadvantaged women should proceed to Mount Isa" Hmmmm, the women already in that town - took that to be a judgment on them! And by no means would they consider themselves "beauty-disadvantaged".. and so the protests have been happening. "It paints the women here as second rate and suggests the men will settle for anything. I think it's quite disgusting," Mt Isa domestic violence worker Shirley Slann told the Courier Mail newspaper on Monday. Read more
