Thomas Paine who was the influence on at least two of the greatest revolutions in the Western world - the American and the French once wrote - and I found it to be so beautifully written! Freedom has been hunted around the globe; reason was considered as rebellion; and slavery of fear made man afraid to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth is that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing.... In such a situation, man becomes what he ought to be. He sees his species not with the inhuman idea of a natural enemy, but as kindred.... Rebellion against the norm - and freedom from past has been the only way highest of minds have thought and progressed. Yet, they are others tried to teach others to follow. Freedom from all influence - bred by fear - even of a teacher Read more

Dissolving the mind, Or the highest meditation, The world and all its works, Life or death, What are they to me? I sit in my own radiance. Why talk of wisdom, The three ends of life, Or oneness? Why talk of these! Now I live in my heart. -Ashtavakra Gita 19:7-8 Read more

The light of Brahman flashes in lightning; The light of Brahman flashes in our eyes. It is the power of Brahman that makes The mind to think, desire, and will. Therefore Use this power to meditate on Brahman. He is the inmost Self of everyone; He alone is worthy of all our love. Meditate upon him in all. Those who Meditate upon him are dear to all. -Kena Upanishad Read more

This is finally a good indicator.. when the leaders amongst the Muslims come forward to move the girls' education ahead! THE NATIONAL Commission for Minority Educational Institution’s (NCMIM) recent view that Muslim girls should stay away from academic institutions where boys are studying has not found favour among elite Muslims and religious leaders, who feel such a view would prove detrimental to the real development of Muslim society. Maolana Khalid Rashid, a religious leader and All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) member based in Lucknow, said, “It is well established that Muslims are unable to develop their community because they lag behind in education.” He added, “There are many areas where separate schools for girls are not available. If we decide to keep girls away from the coed schools, we shall not be able to improve the miserable condition of India’s Muslims.” Read more

In the history of Indian cricket, only a few captains and players will stand out as truly great and outstanding! In terms of captains, until now, only FOUR really stand out in my eyes: Pataudi Ajit Wadekar Kapil Dev Saurav Ganguly They were the only captains who could believe that their team can win despite all odds.. in fact even at times where winning looked like a fairy tale or fantasy! Here is what Srikkanth had to say about how Kapil approached the 1983 World Cup campaign: "Kapil addressed the team meeting and said, boys, we have beaten the West Indies once in the tour we had before this and we can beat them again today. I told myself, this guy has gone bonkers. Beat the West Indies? That's not possible. But Kapil is an aggressive guy, he was insistent ...chhodna nahin, he told us. And that team meeting is what made us believe in ourselves. People say we became a champion side after we won the world cup, but no, we became a champion side after that team meeting. Only Kapil Dev was responsible for that achievement, he made us believe we could do it" Read more

The religions coming out of the Middle East - specifically Islam and Christianity - had a terrible inferiority complex. To get over that, they resorted to their tribal mentality.. as that is the best they knew at the time. So, the mindset went - The more people I have in my fold and brainwashed to my ideology, the more powerful I become, and so the "Best" religion we have.. with the only chance of salvation to mankind! This is a pretty sad and shameful legacy of a great soul - Jesus. It is sad that with all his spiritual enlightenment he was not able to raise people around him to higher levels than tribals. Roman Catholic Church symbolizes that tribal mindset, in that they not only go out of the to get converts but do it without any remorse or thought.. as this document now reveals. Just look at the language in the end of the reasons for the "expansion". Anybody who can "spiritually" (NOT in the religiously tribal sense) understand Jesus, would know that to know Jesus you need to be "free" and not "bound" in any ritualistic/organized religion! Read more

This Christmas this guy is going to sell his "soul" to bidders with bids starting at $1 million. Well thats fairly silly and useless aint it? What is someone discovers that there is no such thing as a soul? How does any know that there is a soul in the glass jar - in which he is saying he will give the soul? Now, if there is a soul then after that soul really is "trapped" in the glass jar, then does this guy live? Well, he looks dead in any case even now - look at his face! He says the winning eBay bidder will receive his spirit in a glass jar as well as a contract "relinquishing ownership". He told buyers: "I've got no money for the Christmas holidays, and all I've got left to sell is my soul. "I'm not really using it lately - and selling it on eBay is better than letting the Devil have it." The seller from LA added: "Keep it for yourself, or give it to someone you know who needs one. Who knows what it may be capable of? Read more

The legend of Jesus' life in India has always been prevalent.  Dr. Avtar Singh wrote this piece where he mentioned this.  I am producing the details of the legend from the link here for all of you.  Its pretty interesting! Ancient scrolls reveal that Jesus spent seventeen years in India and Tibet From age thirteen to age twenty-nine, he was both a student and teacher of Buddhist and Hindu holy men The story of his journey from Jerusalem to Benares was recorded by Brahman historians Today they still know him and love him as St. Issa. Their 'buddha' In 1894 Nicolas Notovitch published a book called The Unknown Life of Christ. He was a Russian doctor who journeyed extensively throughout Afghanistan, India, and Tibet. Notovitch journeyed through the lovely passes of Bolan, over the Punjab, down into the arid rocky land of Ladak, and into the majestic Vale of Kashmir of the Himalayas. During one of his jouneys he was visiting Leh, the capital of Ladak, near where the buddhist convent Himis is. He had an accident that resulted in his leg being broken. This gave him the unscheduled opportunity to stay awhile at the Himis convent. Notovitch learned, while he was there, that there existed ancient records of the life of Jesus Christ. In the course of his visit at the great convent, he located a Tibetan translation of the legend and carefully noted in his carnet de voyage over two hundred verses from the curious document known as "The Life of St. Issa." He was shown two large yellowed volumes containing the biography of St. Issa. Notovitch enlisted a member of his party to translate the Tibetan volumes while he carefully noted each verse in the back pages of his journal. When he returned to the western world there was much controversy as to the authenticity of the document. He was accused of creating a hoax and was ridiculed as an imposter. In his defense he encouraged a scientific expedition to prove the original tibetan documents existed. Read more

Scramjets - planes with Mach 15 speed - may become a reality now! To put things in perspective, the world's fastest jet, the Air Force's SR-71 Blackbird spy plane, set a speed record of Mach 3.3 in 1990 when it flew from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., in just over an hour. That was supposed to be a limit for the jet engine. Well not now. Scramjets, on the other hand, can theoretically fly as fast as Mach 15—nearly 10,000 mph! Recent breakthroughs in scramjet engines could mean two-hour flights from New York to Tokyo. They could also mean missiles capable of striking any continent in a moment's notice. No wonder the race to develop them is as fierce as ever. Read more
