So the Oil in US hit a new high this morning as it went beyond $90 a barrel (it fell later though). Dollar hit a new low against the Euro at 1.425 $/Euro. On the one hand the clout of Chinese trade is growing. On the other, Chinese Yuan is pegged against US dollar. That means the Chinese exports to Europe are cheaper now and European exports are expensive to China! That does not augur well for Europe. So they are worried. This worry is not there for US as much as the Chinese imports remain at the same price - thanks to the artificial price of Yuan! Read more
How tough it is in Pakistan is not for ordinary observer to understand and appreciate. The incident at Benazir Bhutto's return where almost 140 people got killed is a reminder of the mess that is in Pakistan. Here is the scenario: Omar Sheikh was used by the then ISI chief to send USD 100k to Mohammad Atta. Daniel Pearl was in Pakistan investigating a lot of things - including this probably. He was killed by Omar Sheikh and company. On the other hand Ejaz Shah was the handling officer for Mulah Omar and Osama Bin Laden from ISI. Omar Sheikh gave himself in to Ejaz Shah - when according to the world... Paki Army / Police had arrested Omar Sheikh! Now, here is the rub... when Benazir Bhutto returns back home.... who is charge of her security? Ejaz Shah!! And people were surprised that there were blasts? Its a miracle she wasn't killed! So, Shah for once has failed in his "mission"! He serves Musharraf "despite" his jehadi roots dearly! So, that should tell one of the leanings - intrinsically at least - of Musharraf! TCS has just won a USD 1.2 billion deal from Nielsen - the Dutch media company. This is the first big ticket win in the billion dollar league. It will be a 10 year deal that will include integrating Nielsen's systems include some of the HR and finance apps. This will put TCS in the big league. Indian companies have typically stayed in the 50-200 million dollar range. This is sure to boost the Indian IT market and also shake up the world IT arena.
