"Some say there was a person over 17 lakh years ago. His name, they say, was Ram. And we should not touch the bridge he built. Who is this Ram? From which engineering college did he graduate? Is there any proof of this? Ram is a big lie. In fact, if you read the old literature, Ram was a drunkard and worse." Says Karunanidhi now. I think he has gone just too far. It is one thing to just deny the existence of Ram and challenge it in court and quite another to start mouthing foul stuff on a religious figure by a political party head. If he had dared to say the same about Mohammad, he would have been be-headed pretty soon! And on top of that, he holds a bandh in favor of destroying the Ram Setu! Read more

There are many people who have problems in relationships. It is tough in life to let go of relationships. Specially those of the heart. Here is a song that has been my guide for handling the dysfunctional relationships. Specially the last stanza:Taaruf rog ho jaye...to usko bhulna behtarTaaluk bojh ban jaye...to usko todna acchha.Wo afsana jise anjaam tak laana na ho mumkin;Use ek khoobsurat mod de kar chhodna accha! The beauty of old Hindi songs was that anyone could feel like it was written for him/her. Listen to this most wonderful voice of Mahendra Kapoor - one of the most under-rated voice in Indian Cinema! Read more

Anybody reading this blog will know that I have never been a fan of the leftists. And this is precisely the reason why! They are a curse on the Indian society! Here one such clueless idiot is expressing surprise at the Supreme Order to restrain DMK from going on State wide TN bandh! This idiot, Prakash Karat thinks that it is his birth-right to close work and life in any state he or his fellow-idiotic comrades wish to economically rape! Who will reimburse all the loss to the country's economy? If it wasn't for the Supreme Court and the little bit of honesty that is left in it.... India would have been raped many times over by these leftists! Please share your thoughts on the bandhs and the madness of leftists. "We are surprised to see the observation of the apex court. We consider right to organise peaceful protest as a basic right of political parties and citizens. Judicial encroachment is uncalled for," party general secretary Prakash Karat said after the CPI-M's three-day Central Committee meeting in Kolkata on Monday. Read more

This is the final shot of the just concluded Twenty20 cricket tournament, which India won! Here Misbah Haq very innovatively indeed goes all the way to the off-stump and then lifts the ball behind his back to obviously score a six or a four. He connects real nicely as well! Under any circumstances this would have been a great shot. But unfortunately for the Pakis, this Indian team had a Mallu!! And none of the Pakis know the speciality of the Mallus. "There is a Mallu in every corner of the world!" (specially in places where no one is). So, when Misbah thought he was safe hitting it off in that place way back "God-foresaken" place. Guess what? A Mallu (Sreesanth) was standing there having a great time. Now, Mallus do not let things just fly past them.. do they? They catch on to every thing worth a few bucks stick nice and well. So, that is what happened here! Moral of the story: Get acquainted with the opposition team members special talents before you jump around playing impossible shots in any "corners". (that's where our Mallus get you!) Read more

Swat Valley or Shrivastu as it was known earlier (and home of the Shrivastavas of the Indian Kayasthas), is known for the Buddhist relics of the Gandhara era. One of them is the cross-legged Buddha. Swat has also been Pakistan's best ski resort. It is now in news because the Islamists of the North West Frontier province want to blow the Buddha statue away just like the Taliban did to Bamiyan in Afghanistan. Strangely, not a word of protest has been heard from the Islamic world, intellectuals or activists whether in India, US, Pakistan or elsewhere. Same people who jump around in unabashed anger when a mosque is even touched, even if it has been built by a barbarian! Such is the hypocrisy and idiocy of the secular and "freedom of religion" world! These activists and pseudo-intellectuals are shallow, selective and scoundrels living in the society! If, and when the statue is brought down it would not just be because of the loud explosion from the explosives of the Islamic terrorists, but even the deafening silence of the "pacifists" will be equally responsible! Pakistan government has not issued any statement. I never expected it to. Any religious legacy being destroyed is none of the concern anyways until of course it has to do with Sunni Islam. Read more

Free Burma Now Originally uploaded by CaymanGirl. Nice picture from Flickr on a topical subject. Things are indeed bad in our neighbouring country Burma. And worse, no one seems interested in helping out! Here is a note from the photographer: When I was in college we were required to watch a movie entitled, "Beyond Rangoon" - I thought I was going to be bored to death like I usually am for required materials. I remember walking out of the movie house having found my first inspiration as an adult. Freedom for all. After many years later, Aung San Suu Kyi remains one of the most influential and inspirational people in my life. For an entire week starting now, everything that I photograph will be dedicated to the people of Burma. I hope they know that they are not alone. Free Burma NOW! NOTE: Red is the color representative of the Monks in Burma who are fighting with their lives against the military Junta. Read more

There are many bad judgments by the judiciary. But this, in my view, should rank as one of the cruelest and the worst! Read for yourself: A WOMAN was locked up and “lost” for 70 years after being wrongly accused of stealing 13p. Jean Gambell, 85, was “certified” indefinitely in 1937 over claims she had taken the cash while cleaning at a doctor’s surgery. The money was found — but Jean still spent 70 years in a maze of care institutions. Read more

Kavita Chhibber is doing some really good work in the Indian blogosphere and e-zine area! I think she does some very original work always. She has recently started doing podcasts. This month is the special feature on Hrishikesh Mukherjee - the great Indian cinema Director. He made movies like Anand, Chupke-Chupke, Khubsoorat, Mili, Golmaal, Rang Birangi etc. She has done two interviews - One with Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan and second with Amol Palekar. The insight into Hrishida - the man - and director is amazing. One incident that I find endearing about Hrishida is when Amol Palekar talks about his unwillingness to shoot because of cricket match and how Hrishida handled that. There are very few folks like Hrishikesh Mukherjee now. As for the interview technique of Kavita you will notice her saying very little. I think THAT is the hall-mark of a great interviewer. Read more
