Irfan Pathan is the man of the match. Shahid Afridi is the Man of the tournament. The BCCI has announced a prize of 2 million dollars for the Indian team and Rs 1 crore (USD 250,000) for Yuvraj Singh for his six sixes! Dhoni feels its his biggest achievement for three years and that they will forever treasure this experience. He feels Pakistan bowled really well, the wicket was not doing much and the Pakistani seamers put in a brilliant performance. He knew that 157 was a good total. He feels Bhajji was not sure as he couldnt get his yorkers right, so he decided to give the final over to Joginder Sharma. Read more
India won the inaugural World Cup of twenty20! It was a dream ride really! Beating Australia in the semis and then now taking Pakistan apart. Pakistan played followed the Reagan-esque strategy in the game. They were hitting the Indian bowlers all over the place but also losing wickets. The hope was that they will reach the low score of 157 faster than they will be bowled out of the game. It almost succeeded with Misbah scoring a flurry of sixes all the over park and taken the run-rate from almost 13 an over down to almost 8. The noteworthy performances from Pakistan were Imran Nazir, Younis Khan, Misbah, Yasir and Sohail Tanvir in the end. Misbah scored a six before he was caught by Sreesanth. Read more
This has gotta be a miracle! It might hurt a bit when a pilot lands an Embraer with Parking brakes on! Look at the line of tire burn behind the plane! It is amazing that the plane went right through in a straight line with tires locked!! Read more

Finally a Nepalese boy is the Indian Idol! 🙂 Prashant Tamang has won the finals. What an irony! Even more amazing and satisfying for me - Indian Idol was an ALL NORTH-EAST affair!! The central/northern/western/southern Indians were pushed out by these two gutsy and melodious guys - friends of each other.. and very competitive indeed! The region which has been marginalized by the rest of India - finally asserted its Indian-ness by storming on to the center stage whether someone liked it to happen or not.. North East India has a rightful place in the Indian Union and it is time they take the rest of us Indians by the scruff of our necks.. and put us in our place! Bravo North-East!! Prashant was all tears.. and had his mother there with him. The frenzy he created is just amazing! It is being said that after a long time he has been able to unite the Nepalese people living in India and elsewhere! Although I still believe that Amit was a MUCH better singer - Prashant just could not go where Amit could in terms of singing. Specially after that performance of Amit's where he sang Rabbi's song. He was just outstanding! Unfortunately, both the time - Indian Idol 2 and 3 (I did not see Indian Idol #1), the lesser of the two finalists won based on local votes. Just because Andhra-ites do not watch Hindi TV as much, Karunya lost to Sandeep Acharya. And the same goes here too. Karunya was ANY day the best of his lot. And I am sure who understand music would say the same about Amit. He was a cut above the other impressive singers here on Indian Idol - Chang, Emon, and Abhishek. As for girls, Puja was tops, then would be Deepali (close behind though). Ankita was good overall but not the best singer. She was a phenomenon! None in this ENTIRE competition could even come close to her in terms of sheer grit and imagination. In my book, Ankita was the defacto Indian Idol! Read more

Shahrukh Khan has been a special person in my eyes ever since I first saw him. People listen to his stammer-dialog delivery. I can sense a passion and an energy missing from Indian life! While Amitabh Bachchan epitomized the quiet subdued power of anger, Shahrukh goes a notch higher and makes that anger a rage. A passion that goes beyond words. I have always mantained that Shahrukh would have succeeded no matter what he did. When he was studying - he did so very well. When he played he captained. Whatever he does, it has his 120% concentration and focus. He works to win. Nothing short. That is why a guy with good but not the most dashing looks, ordinary body (hold on!), and a TV career - made it as a super-star in Bollywood. Unthinkable combo and act. Now, Shahrukh at his 40+ age thought of doing something with his body. And what does he do? He creates something out of his bland and flat body.. a physique that only a few can match in the Indian cinema!! Here is a pic (from Sakshi's blog) of his six packs for his movie - Om Shanti Om (a retro kind of take on the world of bollywood itself!) Read more
Ragga-Bhangra - born out of confluence in England between the Carribeans and Punjus - is kind of rap / reggae interspersed with some authentic Punjabi Bhangra. Apache Indian is a very popular exponent of this. Well.. what happens when Polish's bland palate tries some Indian masala? This is what comes out of a Polish attempt at Reggae/Bhangra music... I cannot understand the lyrics but it looks interesting! Specially the rotis on the turntable are hilarious! Enjoy... Read more

What a picture! I would have called it "When the robes collide"! One chastity freak "goes down" on another one!! That makes you wonder if the nun is actually enjoying it or feeling angry about it? 😉 =================== From the photograher, Dean Shaddock: This was captured as I collected my things from airport security (Detroit Metro Concourse A). I think of it as something like a Rorschach test. Is an elderly Catholic nun being frisked by a Muslim security agent the celebration of blind justice? Or is it simply an admission of absurdity?
