What is "God"? Well it is an interesting question. And if "She" or "He" may exist, then what may be Her characteristics? Then the question, that if She did had to have those characteristics... then is such an entity plausible? Well some metaphysicists ponder on this.. I chose the following characteristics for such an entity called "God": Omnipotent (all-powerful, able to do anything) Omnibenevolent (all-loving) Omniscient (all-knowing) The Creator (of all that exists) The Sustainer (if God ceased to exist, so would everything else) Perfectly Free Eternally Existing (will go on and on and on...)What was the plausibility quotient? It was 30% or 0.3! That means the plausibility given the "consistency" of the various characteristics - as these metaphysicists define them and tend to articulate - I chose is very low indeed. Below is the entire analysis! Is the salvation in occurences or is it in our reactions.... or lack of them? Aren't we just all aggregations of "Reactions"... These reactions create our deeds... and the Deeds lead to our experiences.. .and experiences lead to further reactions. Where is the Freedom then? The Baggage of Reactions is creating suffering, isnt it? Is what happens to us a suffering.... or our reaction to that occurence? Is a flood a suffering? Or our reaction? Well.. ponder over it.. while you read this interesting analysis.. and maybe do one of your own! Read more

It seems we are not the only ones who murder our fellow species, it is also possible in the Chimps-world! What is so special about that behavior? Earlier it was thought that killings in other species may be triggered by instinct.. but homicide or even wars may be a deliberate act.. which was thought to be possible only amongst the Humans. Well no longer.. we aren't the only ones who are into this! Back in 1974, an unusual report from Jane Goodall at the Gombe Stream Wildlife Research Centre in Tanzania caught the public eye. Chimpanzees had committed infanticide and were engaging in war. Not only were they acting in unanticipated ways, chimpanzees were acting like humans. Goodall's discovery bridged the divide between Homo sapiens and other species. Read more

Two interesting quotes: “I think a lot of journalists want every war to be like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: a place where you can stay in a nice hotel, get up in the morning, drive in your car, see a battle … and then drive back just in time to send your pictures and have a nice dinner … But the world isn’t conformed to how journalists should cover—the world is as it is and we as journalists go and do it. Sometimes things are easy and sometimes things are incredibly hard.” Chris Hondros, Getty Images, as quoted in Chapter 10, Into The Abyss Read more

Bush's daughters are on a trip to Argentina.. and one of the twins had her purse and cell phone were taken off. Well the Argentinians better watch out.. first, they have the temerity to call "Soccer" Football.. and second, they have done this misdeed.. wait till our dear Bush sends his Marines over! Remember what he did when last time Saddam rubbed Bush Sr. on the wrong side? He has made the entire US and Iraq and the rest of the world pay for it.. and counting! ABC News, citing unidentified law enforcement reports, reported on its Web site Tuesday that Barbara Bush's purse and cell phone were taken while she was dining in a Buenos Aires restaurant. La Nacion newspaper, citing anonymous government sources, said in its online edition early Wednesday that one of Bush's daughters had her purse taken Sunday afternoon in the popular tourist district of San Telmo. A pair of thieves removed the purse from under a table while Secret Service agents stood guard at a distance, La Nacion reported. La Nacion said its sources did not reveal which of the Bush daughters had her purse stolen. Read more

This is about as crazy as it can possibly get! Here is a High School kid who has created Nuclear Fusion in his basement! And all it took was TWO YEARS!! That is nothing compared to the time that many nations have taken in trying to go nuclear and still cannot manage it despite the best minds and resources of the world! Ask Ahmednijad and Osama... they'd rather be this kids neighbor and get the device shipped to Iran or whereever! Thiago Olson, 17, stands near his nuclear fusion reactor, which he calls "the Fusor," at home in Oakland Township on Friday. After more than two years and 1,000 hours of research, the Stoney Creek High School senior, with a little help from his dad, built the machine. (PATRICIA BECK/Detroit Free Press) On the surface, Thiago Olson is like any typical teenager. He's on the cross country and track teams at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills. He's a good-looking, clean-cut 17-year-old with a 3.75 grade point average, and he has his eyes fixed on the next big step: college. But to his friends, Thiago is known as "the mad scientist." In the basement of his parents' Oakland Township home, tucked away in an area most aren't privy to see, Thiago is exhausting his love of physics on a project that has taken him more than two years and 1,000 hours to research and build -- a large, intricate machine that , on a small scale, creates nuclear fusion. Read more

Genocide of the minorities is rampant in Bangladesh! The rise of Islamic fundamentalism is visible in every sphere.. but the West will still support the four party fundamentalist coalition! Journalist and activist Shahriar Kabir cites the rise of the militant organizations as the reason. "Today, there are more than a 100 such militant organisations. On August 17, as a show of strength, they exploded 500 bombs across the nation. On that day, not district of Bangladesh was spared. Though the bombs were all low intensity and the body was not high, it showed how well organised the outfits are," he says. Read more

US as a country has definitely gone the extreme right way in a lot of ways in the past 8 years of Bush. Little have the Americans realized how intolerant and fundamentalist have they become. These are times when Fordian Tolerance of "You can any car until it is black" syndrome is prevalent and indeed celebrated. Here is a lady - a Christian, if you must - lost a race to a practicing Hindu and what does she tell him in her concession letter? That, since he isnt a Christian, he needs to get to Jesus to "save his soul"! Now, this is as pathetic as it possibly gets. First - this lady has no idea of what Jesus was all about.. because Christians, in general in the US, have made a mockery of Jesus as to what he stood for! Second - she is revealing her utter ignorance of what a soul is in the first place!! Read more

India might not be a world power yet, but its youth are having a ball! The greatest reason why the youth of India feel excited is because of the opportunities in life. Surprisingly, China is doing better in terms of growth... so my first question on reading this news article was - why arent the Chinese youth happier? Is that something to do with Democracy? Democracy with Growth is the source of happiness? Maybe... Indians are the happiest overall, while Japanese are the most miserable. In a global survey by MTV Networks International (MTVNI), which covered more than 5,400 young people in 14 countries, only 43 per cent of the world's 16- to 34-year-olds said they were happy with their lives. Read more

9-11 has done more to harm the US than just the security troubles. It has set back its interactability with the rest of the world a great deal. The image of the US has taken a beating for sure. Some Americans will pooh-pooh such a notion and not care much about it... but for those who would like to work in the rest of the world, the odds get worse eevryday! To drive home the point, the Discover America Partnership released the result of a global survey on Monday which showed that international travelers see the United States as the world's worst country in terms of getting a visa and, once you have it, making your way past rude immigration officials. Read more
