Power corrupts and Absolute Power corrupts absolutely! Well Absolute power also makes you blind! So deep was the apathy of the people of the United States and so little did the Republicans and - specifically George Bush - understand it that they were in their own world of "Eye-Rack" .. Iraq STUPID! Little did anyone see that the country had become sick and tired of that inane campaign that was orchestrated just for the familial vengeance of the Bush family! This election will mark watershed in the democratic history of the US for may landmarks: - Keith Ellison became the second Black Governor in US History Read more

China's Forex Reserves have reached a record $1 trillion mark! That gives it a big clout in the world economy. At the rate at which it is growing every year, if it could be extrapolated in the future and nothing wrong was to happen, then China will surpass US in its contribution to the World's GDP growth by 2025! That is a significant milestone. There are caveats however. The Chinese growth is very strongly linked to State control. The private entrepreneurs are strong but they have not contributed as much as they should have. More importantly most of the growth is export driven and not so much fueled by local consumers. The prediction from MorganStanley analysis report: In his analysis for Morgan Stanley, Mr. Roach extrapolated plausible growth rates into the future for China, India, Europe, Japan, and the US. This is merely a simulation, not a formal forecast, but the results are telling: In its contribution to world GDP growth, China would surpass the US by 2025. That would be up from about 35 percent of the US contribution in 2005, and 60 percent in 2015. India's contribution would surpass Japan's by 2025, but remain far behind China and the US. Read more

Old stuff in ERP - the OLTP variety - is now going to take a slightly back seat for most IT shops in the companies. Business Intelligence and Analytics is going to be the most important investment area for the CIOs in the ERP area! That is what the AMR Research Report for the 2007 ERP Spending (titled "Enterprise Resource Planning Spending Report, 2006-2007") says! In the next 12 months, however, BI/analytics (25 percent), financial management (21 percent), and order management, manufacturing, and CRM from an ERP vendor (each with 20 percent) are the top five new functional areas that respondents contend will be covered by ERP software. It should be noted, however, that the remaining functional categories were each separated by no more than two percentage points from the next closest functional area. Companies designated BI/analytics as their most strategically important 2007 ERP software investment and the ERP software investment where they'll spend the most in 2007 (15 percent, 20 percent), followed by manufacturing (14 percent, 10 percent), and customer management (13 percent, 9 percent). Read more

These days it is so common for people to say how "God" would act or do.. and the titles like "What would Jesus do?" or "What would BUddha do?" are becoming more common. We can conveniently make ourselves the SUBJECT and make "God" the object and start making pronouncements! Here is a great quote that puts it very nicely! You can safely assume you've created God in your own image when it turns out he hates all the same people you do. -Anne Lamott Read more

Little known to the rest of the world is the strength of Indian space program. It has been one of those things that was built through sheer grit of the Indian scientists, one of the foremost being the current Indian President, Abdul Kalam. I still remember that US had put sanctions on India during the heydays of Pakistan-US friendship in 1980's for the Afghan War and India was not going to get the technology for the solid fuel in the Indian rockets.. and Indian scientists had to dig in and start working on it to create the technology of their own. Good they did that. Because they did it cheaper than that of NASA. Ditto for the Super Computer. PARAM was much cheaper and much better in its day! Read more

What a mockery of democracy US has become! Broken voting machines, unregistered voters in thousands, courts making the final ruling on the results of the elections, and the dirty and dishonest politicians! Here is what the Republican party is upto.. not that I have a whole lot of respect for this President and his election tactics (in one of his local Texas elections he went to the Churches to talk against a seasoned lady politician in his grooming years!).. but such stuff is sign of pathetic and desperate politics. And after this, if the American people get stuck in several more Iraqs, then they should blame themselves! Read more
