The most used blogging platform is WordPress. In fact I am also using it for my BusinessMusings.com site (am moving it to a new host and it should come up soon). I always thought that it would be great if someone could create a comprehensive list of all the themes for WP. Finally here is a Comprehensive List of the WP themes. Great Resource!! The theme that I have used for my BusinessMusings site is named Kiwi! I have seen lots of themes on various platforms but this one beats EVERYONE of them hands down!! Here is an image of the Kiwi-themed site: I used GIMP to create the banners on every page and inserted them to look really good!! So, if any of you are contemplating using WP for your site, please do go ahead with it and use any the nice themes that people have created in the list above! Read more

Just read this and ponder on what losers we have in office as our Ministers and Bureaucrats. Full of Egos and Vanity. Here is the World's largest Steel company coming to put up a Iron and Steel plant in Jharkhand - which is sure to increase their employment and tax revenues.. and the Ministers are caught up in red tape!! This guy Mittal does NOT need Jharkhand.. rather Jharkhand needs Mittal and his plants to improve the lives of the people there!! Can we, the normal educated people, even comprehend the mess these guys are wrecking on our countrymen's lives?? What I am afraid is that most people do not even understand this thing!! A day after Mittal served a virtual ultimatum to Jharkhand that he would take the project to a state where things moved faster, Jharkhand Mines Minister Madhu Kora said government had not received any application from the Mittal Group for iron ore mine lease, power and land acquisition. "The pace of work could be judged only after the applications were given," he said. Asked whether Mittal's announcement of setting up a steel plant in neighbouring Orissa was a pressure tactic to expedite things in Jharkhand, Kora said, "if anyone comes with such intentions, then I can only tell that the outcome of the understanding between the two parties would not be good. The Jharkhand government has neither any problem nor any reservation on Mittal's announcement to set up a steel plant in Orissa-Mittal Steel's second announcement in nine months. "The Jharkhand government is moving in the right direction and will go to the maximum extent to help Mittal Steel set up the greenfield project in the state. We are serious about helping them," Kora said. Read more

Finally you get a piece that tells us why Dr. Singh - the Indian PM - is quiet over the entire Ramadoss vs Venugopal case. One, Ramadoss is a strong PMK honcho - a strong ally for Congress' coalition Government. Two, he is well connected with DMK - strong party in Tamil nadu. Three, PM feels Venugopal did not do enough to stop the stir against the reservations. Well, if anything my respect for Dr. Singh has gone down over these two issues - reservations and AIIMS. Read more

Interesting news. Even the mighty Powell can fall ill from bad food! And those poor Iraqis who are forced to live on sub-standard living conditions where you do not even know when the next bomb may take you away? They still face the bane of Powell's indiscretions! Former Secretary of State Colin Powell was briefly hospitalized early Friday after he fell ill at a restaurant where he was dining with former President Clinton and others, police said.Aspen police Sgt. Bill Linn said the four-star general told him it appeared to be a combination of altitude sickness and something he ate. "He is conscious and in very good spirits," Linn said shortly before Powell was released from Aspen Valley Hospital at 1:45 a.m. Linn said Powell asked him to speak with reporters. Read more

Many Muslims writers argue ad nauseum about the "Peaceful and Universal Nature of Islam". Here is another one in Dawn (a Pakistani newspaper). Read the article carefully. Here are some inherently contradictory verses that the author shares that I would like to make comments on. Islam has universality as it recognises and respects all prophets and messengers who came before Prophet Muhammad: "And Allah has ordained for you... which He ordained Nuh (Noah) and that which We... ordained for Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses) and Isa (Jesus) saying you should establish religion..." (42:13). And what about the "prophets" who came after Muhammad? What about Guru Nanak? Or Buddha? or Sai Baba? So, basically, its the Ford Paradigm of Freedom - "You can buy any car as long as it is black" Islam not only supports but in fact heralds freedom of thought and religion. It has been laid down very clearly in the Quran that Islamic faith shall not be imposed on those who are reluctant or not willing to adopt the same: "There is no compulsion in religion." (2: 256) "...Your duty (O Muhammad) is only to convey the message in a clear way." (16:82) "Had Allah willed, they would not have taken others besides Him in worship." (6:107). Read more

A nice couplet that was given by my friend Adnan. His Father had written this. Great message!! Manzil hai meri sarhad-e-Idrak se aage; Yeh kehkashan kya hai, meri rehguzar hai. The Parliamentary Committee with Political heavyweights has finally condemned the Venugopal ouster! Dr. Venugopal is a renowned Heart Specialist in India - quite obviously he doesnt give a shit about that bastard Ramadoss!!! This Ramadoss joker should be made to back off and apologize to the country!! The move to sack AIIMS Director P Venugopal drew sharp reaction at a meeting of a Parliamentary Committee which deplored the action, and several members attacked the style of functioning of Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss. A resolution adopted at the meeting on Friday of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare, headed by Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, "deplored" the decision of the institute's governing council which recommended the ouster of Venugopal and requested the government to find a solution. Committee sources said senior Congress leader A K Antony as also party member of Parliament Sukhbans Kaur were party to the resolution asking the government to find a solution in the larger interest of suffering people. Read more

Very rarely have I seen anyone write about the dissolution of the creation as beautifully as Arsenio has done on Intentblog. Here is a sampler: The outer limits of the universe had reached their balance with the forces of nothing, they rebounded losing the expanding momentum and the architectural designs of the cosmic started to fold back. Total collapse of worlds and stars, galaxies crashed on their centers as the chain reaction of return was triggered, and all conceived in space crumpled with a thunderous noise - that no one heard- as all normal sentience was dead, into a point infinitesimal; an atom so dense it made no sense, a point of nothing through which everything once was imagined. All went back to the stillness that lies beyond conception. Enjoy. btw, here is a new discovery in a Supernova. A Stellar object has been found embedded in the heart of a supernova remnant 10,000 light-years away. It is something that has never been seen by the scientists. At first glance, the object looks like a densely packed stellar corpse known as a neutron star surrounded by a bubble of ejected stellar material, exactly what would be expected in the wake of a supernova explosion. Read more

Did you know that most Billionaires in the latest Forbes list were Virgoes? A few years back they were mostly Pisces. Why? Well, the astrloger on this shows says she cant say exactly - but both these signs are such which do not care much about money. They are more into service and work. Most US presidents have been Scorpios or Aquarians. My favorite Abraham Lincoln was an Aquarian. Aquarians like to "change" the world as they see it. And major newscasters are Capriconians - very hard working people who are extremely diligent at what they do and would not mind spending hours doing what they are supposed to finish! Read more
