Colors and a different theme!

Summer is here as Spring ends... and greens line the landscape all over the world - new colors are in the sight now as flowers keep growing on! So, I thought I might as well have a new colorful layout too. Here it goes - I used the "Nifty Corners" theme and customized the different areas to suit my requirements! I like different elements of other themes - so I have included those elements like the way you see the date on the left side of the title in a grey box (from Connections).. also enveloped the "Posted" and "Submitted" lines in different colors and moved "Posted" to the bottom.. and also added the borders. I did a similar thing with the breadcrumb (added borders). Do let me know what you think of this theme? Read more

Nindo Nindo… (Criticize me please!)

A shabad by Bhai Chaman Lal goes: Nindo Nindo.. Nindo Moko Log Nindo... Criticise me... Oh Criticise me All you people... please criticize me. This is from the writings of Kabir - the great Saint of Bhakti Movement. He goes on to say how the person who criticises - fairly or unfairly - does you a favor. He or she is taking on your sins while wiping off yours. Now, I do not believe in the sin-business much... I just think that the more ego and negative thought energies you have the more it becomes difficult to submerge your soul into the Universal whole. Personally, I have found that controlling anger in the face of unfair, persistent, and regular criticism, is probably the most difficult effort. Read more

Summers are here now.... and if you were in India - so would be the Mangoes!! This is one thing I sorely miss in the US - REAL Mangoes.. not the ones you get at grocery stores.. those have been ripened using some chemical or something.. and are without any taste!! Petition Against Reservation in India

The Government of India is now adamant on increasing the reservation for SC/ST/OBC to 49.5% in top educational institutes. This leaves very little seats for the talented General Class students, who are already struggling.... I got a message from a friend to help Youth Forum for Justice against this by signing their petition. Finally a formal Government backed Commission (Mukherjee Commission) comes out with the finding on Netaji that "He did NOT die in the Air crash"... and what does the Government do? Reject it! Today in one party I found myself sitting next to a Taiwanese guy - in his 20's. He was a nice guy who was interested in sharing notes on how I, an Indian immigrant (sorta like in the shoes of his parents) was doing in the US. His questions were intriguing ... but very pertinent and those that could have come from an immigrant descendent only.
