The latest religious controversy to hit concerning artistic freedom is that about the book "Da Vinci Code". Just a few months back the very right-wing Christians who were pooh-poohing the Muslims of Saudi Arabia at their "sensitivity" to Mohammad cartoons suddenly seem to have borrowed their shallow nerves. Now, Brown's work on Da Vinci and the suggestion that Jesus was married hurts badly! "Marriages are made in Heaven" they say... suddenly what is made is "Heaven" has become a SIN when it comes to the "Ruler of Heaven"!! The more I listen to or read the Right-wingers or Church leaders on TV or elsewhere.. the more I am convinced that no one cares a bit about Jesus ... his essence...of what He was. They have created a whole new Jesus around themselves and live by what they think are His teachings!
