Quite often the way we spend time is reflective of our priorities. What we do is of a higher priority than what we do NOT choose to do at a moment. I am currently off and on (another problem of choosing the correct priority for me!) reading this book "The 10 Natural Laws of Successful Time and Life Management" by Hyrum Smith. It is a nice book giving some excellent principles of time management. He suggests asking two questions: 1. What are the highest priorities in your life? 2. Of these priorities, which do you value the most. Read more

I was re-reading Tony Robbins book "Awaken the Giant Within" again last evening. And these are some notes. I intend to follow up on these simple but powerful stuff. There are some "Problem Soving Questions": 1. What is great about this problem? 2. What is not perfect yet? 3. What am I willing to do to make it the way I want it? 4. What am I willing to NO longer do in order to make it the way I want it? 5. How can I enjoy the process while I do what is necessary to make it the way I want it? These are important questions to get to the root of the problems that one is facing at any moment. The thing is one needs to identify the problems/issues initially and then to be realistic and honest about the situation rather than fooling one's ownself. I have seen many people deny the issues that they are facing in general - even the larger issues of life!! If you cannot be truthful to your ownself, there is very little reason to believe that you have come out of a current quagmire. Read more

Came across this new site and organization that is trying to promote legislative debate within the country. I think it is worth reading and following. Basically, we are looking at democratic tools that were hitherto in the US - which ensure the checks and balances - being implanted in India. Wider and informed debate can only improve the inherent strength of the democracy and legislations within India. Great work guy!! Parliamentary Research Service (PRS) is an independent, not-for-profit initiative that seeks to promote wider debate on upcoming legislative issues in Parliament. Read more

Nice analysis of the Australian Economy.. worth a read! A decade ago, Woolloomooloo Wharf stood as a derelict eyesore from an earlier era. Now it glitters with a Taj hotel, a top restaurant, and loft-style condominiums popular with actors like Russell Crowe. Indeed, Sydney's waterfront is thriving, boasting amenities such as doggie day care, $10 lattes, and a superyacht marina. For 15 years, Australia has grown at an average 3.7 percent clip without any sign of recession. The stock market is up 37 percent this year, and, last week, registered a record number of trades. The boom has slashed unemployment, doubled the country's wealth, and taken care of all but pocket change on its debt. Read more

Thats quite a pair for a human being!! Its for the good that these kingdoms finally came to an end! Imagine the kind of absolute and nonsensical extravagant lifestyle these Kings were living while their populations were dying of poverty! Sardar Patel is one of THE most under-rated politician that India had.. he single-handedly abolished these kingdoms after the Brits left. Maybe history would not evaluate this properly.. but democracy was one of the better things to have happened to India. A pair of diamond and emerald encrusted slippers worn by the Nizam of Hyderabad in the 1790s has been found in a plastic bag near the place from where they had been stolen in January. Read more
