I just changed the layout design for my blog yesterday.... its important to me that a layout passes the test in Firefox and IE.. .as well as look good and neat. ... somehow my last design had become clunky and unattractive to me.. so I was on the look out for something new... here it is .. the "Goofy Theme" from Drupal. I added a logo banner which I created rather quickly early this morning.. I will create more of these and put them up. If you have or can suggest any such banners that I can use.. will greatly appreciate and will put it up with appropriate credits in a post as well as at the bottom! Read more

I have lived in US for last 8 years - have visited various countries - Malaysia and Venezuela among them... and I visit India every year. I just came back from another visit. A few things struck me tremendously: 1. Although the infrastructure is being ramped up - the attention to detail and plan is missing (even after months of a highway or flyover being constructed the dirt and soil were still lying contributing to the pollution - and its NOT just "smog" we also have what I call "Dog" Dust + Fog!)...the "Quality of the last mile" is not taken care of! I found only the Delhi metro being an exception of sorts. If this is not taken care of, we will have built the infrastructure but an unsustainable one on a long term. Read more
"Most of our energy goes into upholding our importance...If we were capable of losing some of that importance, two extraordinary things would happen to us. One, we would free our energy from trying to maintain the illusory idea of our grandeur; and two, we would provide ourselves with enough energy to catch a glimpse of the actual grandeur of the universe." Despite what I think are high valuations all over - incl. India - it seems the world is happy to shore up investments! In India, I found the investments to be unsustainable! Investors made few changes in their allocations in December but headed into 2006 with close to twice as much exposure to equities as to bonds, Reuters polls showed on Wednesday. Surveys of 44 leading fund management companies in the United States, Japan, Britain and continental Europe showed average stocks holdings at 62.0 percent, barely changed from 61.9 percent in November. Bond holdings were unchanged at 31.4 percent and cash remained steady at 3.9 percent. Property and alternative investments made up the remainder. Read more
Its been an year since the Tsunami.. and lots of money poured in for help.. but has it all gone to where it belonged?? This is an article regarding this issue! One year ago -- Dec. 26, 2004 -- a tsunami walloped a huge swathe of the world from Indonesia all the way to Africa. Some 300,000 people were swept to their deaths, from the grandson of the king of Thailand and the daughter and granddaughter of film director Richard Attenborough to Njoroge, a Nairobi car mechanic, who picked the wrong day for his first visit to the beautiful East African coast and died a statistical fluke, his country's solitary fatality from the disaster.
