Get it at http://desktop.google.com/) Change the Location of Your Google Desktop Index Depending on how many files you have on your PC, the search index Google Desktop creates can get pretty substantial—easily 1GB or more. If you don't want the index clogging up your main drive, you can easily move it to a different drive. To move it, follow these steps: 1. Exit Google Desktop. 2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:Documents and SettingsUSERNAMELocal SettingsApplication DataGoogleGoogle Desktop Search, where USERNAME is your user name. (Note: Local Settings is a hidden folder, and you might not be able to see it. If you can't, you can unhide it. To unhide it, In Windows Explorer, choose "Folder options" from the Tools menu. Click the View tab, and under "Hidden files and folders," click "Show hidden files and folders." Then click OK.) 3. Move the entire Google Desktop Search Folder to a different drive. You don't have to replicate the entire original folder path—you could, for example, move it to D: Google Desktop Search. 4. Open the Registry Editor by choosing Start->Run, typing regedit, and clicking OK. 5. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareGoogleGoogle Desktop. 6. In the right-hand pane, double-click "data_dir" and change its value to the new location of the Google Desktop index, for example, D: Google Desktop Search. 7. Exit the Registry editor. 8. Restart Google Desktop search. Read more

Tropical Storm Wilma, caused by a depression in the Caribbean, could move into the Gulf by Friday, said the US National Hurricane Center. It comes in the wake of hurricanes Rita and Katrina, which shut US oil facilities. Six remain closed. US crude was up $1.73 at $64.36 and Brent crude up $1.09 at $60.57. However, prices are still off the August highs of above $70 a barrel. I borrowed one book from an 8 book series of lectures and writing by Swami Vivekananda from the AS temple library last week... if you get a chance you SHOULD read him. He was a great thinker! In fact, he starts from a different point ... takes a diff route.. and ultimately ends up where Krishnamurti says.. but he uses lot of scientific thought in what he says..and very often is strong enough to make statements - which though logical ... but could be blasphemous to others.. like in one place he calls Budhha and Jesus - second rate .. although he praises them profusely elsewhere.. but his point is good... that they came out to show their knowledge.. and "teach".. while the 24 "Buddhas (Gautam Buddha said he was the 25th) passed off quietly.. without showing off their "stuff"... Read more

Here is a scoop from Germany. This came in Wall Street Journal. The Government there has rules on how people can name their babies! Some rules: 1. No hyphenated names - like Leonard Matthias Grunkin-Paul! Why? Because if both husband and wife come with two hyphenated names - then their kids have FOUR hyphenated names and the grandkids have EIGHT and so on... Of course, it is not anywhere assumed that the generations down the line could be smarter to see it and abandon the practice themselves! 2. Some names are illegal - like Lenin or Schnikis. 3. The First Name should indicate the GENDER of the person. If it doesnt then the second name SHOULD be given to "clarify' the matter! Eunuchs presumably cannot live in that country! Read more

Personally, i have found Fareed Zakaria to be a very incisive and sharp observer. He is touted by some as possibly the person most likely to be the first Asian-born Secretary of State in US. He recently gave an interview to Outlook India - which I found rather interesting. Here are some excerpts for you. On dark side of globalisation Of course, globalisation has a dark side. It increases development, which means pollution, urbanisation, sprawl, building, and the destruction of communities. But that cannot mean one wants to stop development. It is scandalous that urban intellectuals, living privileged lives, want to stop people from getting out of poverty. Read more

News Source: DNAIndia News Highlight: At least 200 hardcore terrorists have been killed, and major terror camps and communication centres of at least three terror groups have been fully destroyed. This is according to the most authoritative assessment of the impact of the quake on Kashmir terror groups. The quake has dramatically reduced the number of trained terrorists available for Kashmir jehad and its impact would be felt for sometime to come, say intelligence and security assessments accessed by DNA. But that is no assurance on the quantum of violence coming down, warn senior officials. "The surviving terrorists in fact could step up violence," they warn. News Source: Sify.com News Highlight: The massive earthquake of October 8 has seeded fear among residents in New Delhi’s new high-rise apartments. But experts say the real worry is the city’s patchwork of illegal homes. Newspapers and television networks reported how thousands of residents of apartment blocks around New Delhi panicked after an earthquake that measured 7.6 on the Richter scale swayed the multi-storey buildings on Saturday. But Subir Saha, director of New Delhi's School of Planning and Architecture, said the real danger to the country’s capital lay in the sprawling patchwork brick and mortar homes stacked almost back-to-back across the city.
