William Lane Craig is the guru, swami, jedi master, ninja, seal team six, commando of apologetics. His work on philosophy and cosmology, God and time, the historicity of the resurrection, God’s middle knowledge, and worldviews are fantastic. His book Reasonable Faith is a classic. His website reasonablefaith.org is a great resource especially for folks with questions or want some on-line apologetics resource.
Bill Craig has debated just about every atheist and sceptic there is from Anthony Flew to Bart Ehrman. Richard Dawkins is too afraid to debate him!
When I was a young Christian, I saw a video of the debate between Bill Craig and Frank Zindler at Willowcreek Church back in the early 1990s. I have to confess that I was in awe of Craig’s recall of facts, philosophical and historical, and his rhetorical brilliance to just pound his opponents into oblivion. He is, as Sam Harris says, the only apologist able to put the fear of God into atheists. I had the great pleasure of having breakfast with Bill Craig once thanks to an invitation from Mike Licona! It was meeting one of the many persons who inspired me to go into Christian scholarship.
Anyway, Nathan Schneider has a piece on Bill Craig called 7 Habits of a Highly Effective Philosopher. Do check it out. It provides some background to Craig’s background, his study habits, and how he works as a scholar, teacher, and debater.
