I’ve been reading Thich Nhat Hanh‘s book, Art of Power. It’s one of those books that’s been on my shelf for quite awhile, until now, right when I needed to hear the message. Here’s the line I want to bring to your attention:
“Living happily in the present moment.”
I read this statement last week and have been practicing it off and on since then. I have a sense of shifting my life in a profound way, going from focusing on what I should do in the future (or what I might fear could happen) and on what I should have done in the past (or what I grieve) to–this moment. Now.
“Living happily in the present moment.”
Over the years, I’ve done quite a lot of practicing about being present, bringing my attention to fully experiencing what is. And yet, using this mantra has taken me a step further. I have a sense of reaping the treasures of the moment in a broader way, like I’m harvesting gorgeous sunlight in a beautiful garden.
“Living happily in the present moment.”
So, I offer it to you. Try speaking it to yourself five times, while letting yourself soak in all that is.
“Living happily in the present moment.”
