6 Fall Business Ideas: How to Make Money in the Fall

Leaves are falling and opportunity is knocking!  The fall is a great time to make extra money.  With Christmas around the corner, some of you may need to start a side job or do a little extra work to pay for gifts and holiday travel.

If you have even the slightest entrepreneurial drive, you can earn a little extra money this fall.  Here are some fall business ideas to keep you busy.

Yardwork Engineer

Put on some gloves and set aside your Saturdays for some yardwork.  A full day’s work cleaning up leaves, weeding mulch beds, or cleaning brush and debris can pocket you close to $100 in some neighborhoods.  Come prepared with cards or fliers to give to the neighbors who will see the work you do.

Holiday Baking

A friend of mine asked permission to sell baked goods at work during the holidays.  She made over $500 by selling baked goods to coworkers who were glad to pay for delicious pies and cakes.  If you have permission to sell at your work (or at other businesses) make up a menu and start baking.

Start a Blog or Freelance

It’s always a good time to start a blog! : )  I started this site in the fall a couple of years ago and you can start one too.  Don’t expect to make a ton of money on your blog right away.  If you’re looking to make a few extra bucks online, a better way to do it is by asking bloggers if you can become a staff writer. You can make anywhere from $15 to $50 or more an article writing for sites.

Have a Fall Garage Sale

Why wait until the spring to clean out your basement?  Get a head start and have a fall sale.  It’s not uncommon for a garage sale to bring in anywhere from $50 to $250 or more, which can really help during the holidays.

Create Fall Decorations

Tis the season for fall parties, so capitalize on it by creating fall party decorations.  Get creative and use festive items to make centerpieces and other items that you can sell at a local craft store or outdoor market.

Snow Removal Business

For many parts of the country, snow can come as early as November.  Get your shovel ready and let your prospective customers know that you’re available for business.  While it might not make you millions, you can certainly make a couple hundred dollars after a few snowfalls.
