How to Buy Olympic Tickets

The 2012 Olympics are here and if you’ll be in London this summer, you could see the events in person.  We always enjoy watching the games on TV, but never really knew how to buy Olympic tickets, let alone what Olympic ticket prices would set us back.  Surprisingly, traveling to see the Olympics can be reasonably affordable if you know where to look.

Just for fun, here’s a breakdown of what a trip to the Olympics would cost.  Of course, the cost of your flight to London will depend on when and where you’re flying from, but the ticket price, and hotel costs should be relatively stable.

Where to Buy Summer 2012 Olympic Games Tickets?

The official 2012 Olympic games website is where you can buy tickets.  There is a window for buying tickets and you have to apply to for tickets for specific events.  The next window for purchasing Olympic tickets is 11am on Tuesday May 2012.

According to the official 2012 Olympics website:

If you are not a resident of the UK or a designated European country, regardless of citizenship, you will need to apply for tickets via your National Olympic Committee (NOC) or National Paralympic Committee (NPC). Some NOCs or NPCs may appoint an Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR) in order to help the general public obtain tickets and services relating to the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

This means you have to obtain your tickets through an authorized reseller – sorry you can’t buy your Olympics tickets on eBay (it’s against the Olympic committee’s rules). CoSport is the only approved Authorised Ticket Reseller, to sell individual event tickets, ticket packages and consumer hospitality packages people in Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Norway, Sweden and the United States.

Olympic Ticket Prices | How Much Will it Cost?

The prices for tickets to the Olympic games can range from $20 to thousands of dollars.  Entire vacation packages are available through CoSport…but you should expect to pay over $1,000 for an entire package.

Finding a hotel for the Olympic games might be difficult now.  If you’re serious about going to the games, you should look into a package through CoSport.

If the tickets are just out of your price range, you can always watch the games on TV.  If you’re not able to get tickets this year, there’s always Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016!
