Faith Goes Pop
Madonna is performing at the Super Bowl this weekend (I only know the date of this event because I keep tabs on the Puppy Bowl), so it seemed like a perfect time to release her new single, “Gimme All Your Luvin.'” The video includes lots of football imagery and includes backup vocals/cameos from two much more relevant musicians, Nicki Minaj and MIA.
It also includes Madonna sporting a giant cross necklace (over a half-shirt and leopard print bra, no less). 20 years ago her jewelry choice would have been huge scandalous news, but our girl has been redoing that I-grew-up-Catholic-and-haven’t-moved-past-my-issues-with-it schtick for so long that nobody even noticed. Well, except me, because I notice religious imagery in music videos. But no one else.
