Brothers and sisters in Christ, we gather today to reflect on a pivotal moment in our nation’s journey. The recent election results still echo in our hearts and minds. With Trump’s victory and Kamala Harris’s loss, we see how power shifts quickly in this world. It’s easy to feel mixed emotions—joy, disappointment, and even confusion. Yet, today, let us step back and focus on a higher calling. This calling goes beyond politics, rooted deeply in our faith. Together, we stand as a family in Christ.

Embracing Forgiveness During the Holidays

As the holiday season draws near, our thoughts turn to family and gratitude. Ephesians 4:32 tells us, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” (NKJV). This scripture calls us to embrace forgiveness, especially when divisions feel strong. Imagine each unresolved grievance as a tree in a forest. As we step forward into God’s light, we leave these grievances behind. Forgiveness frees us to love fully and openly, and it brings peace to our hearts.

Jesus’ Teachings on Boundless Forgiveness

Forgiveness may feel challenging, but Jesus teaches us to forgive without limits. When Peter asked how often to forgive, Jesus answered, “Up to seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:22, NKJV). His answer encourages us to forgive repeatedly, reflecting God’s limitless love. Every day, we encounter moments when forgiveness is needed. By forgiving, we offer others a glimpse of God’s love in action. It strengthens our relationships and brings us closer to God’s heart.

Reflecting on the Joy of Resurrection

As we gather around our tables this season, let’s reflect on the joy of Christ’s resurrection. The resurrection stands as the ultimate reminder of God’s forgiveness and love. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son” (NKJV). This love builds the foundation of our faith. Because of God’s love, we can let go of grudges and live in grace. The joy of Christ’s victory fills our hearts with hope and peace.

Joy as a Gift From God

True joy goes beyond simple happiness; it’s a deep gift from God. Romans 15:13 says, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing” (NKJV). This joy, rooted in our trust in God, lifts us in difficult times. Even when life feels uncertain, joy keeps our hearts steady. We can share this joy with others, letting them see God’s love through us. Joy becomes a source of strength for us and those we meet.

Reflecting Christ’s Light During the Holidays

During the holiday season, lights decorate our homes, reminding us of Christ’s light in the world. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12, NKJV). Each of us has the chance to reflect His light in small ways. Simple acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day and show them love. Just as the shepherds rejoiced at Christ’s birth, we too can spread His joy. By sharing His light, we bring hope to those around us.

Sharing the Greatest Gift of All

The holidays remind us of the greatest gift—our salvation. Jesus’ resurrection gives us assurance that death has been defeated forever. Philippians 4:4 encourages us, “Rejoice in the Lord always” (NKJV). Our joy in Christ should shine brightly to everyone we meet. Even when life feels challenging, we hold onto God’s promises. This joy and hope are gifts we can share with the world, even in uncertain times.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We Gather in Joy and Light

In closing, brothers and sisters in Christ, we gather in this season to reflect, forgive, and rejoice in God’s goodness. Together, we carry the light of Christ into the world, shining brightly for all to see. Let us move forward as vessels of His love and ambassadors of His peace. May we be a source of joy for everyone around us, reflecting His grace in every word and action. Amen.
