On the eight night of Hanukkah 93 years ago, hate, vitriol and racist lies were reaching a fever pitch, sweeping across Germany.

Let us not fool ourselves into believing that it can’t happen again or that it can’t happen here. For people who are victimized, it is happening here, today.
And yet again, just like 93 years ago, otherwise goodhearted people close their eyes to the possibility, or worse yet, believe that there’s a place for bigotry and hate in our modern country.
Eight years ago, Donald Trump made Muslims his victims to get elected. Trump exploited bigotry against Spanish speaking people to win his reelection last year.
In 2025, in the years of the coming Trump administration, innocent people will be victimized, families will be torn apart, and American citizens will be stripped of their rights.
We must stand up in honor of the victims of the past, those who waited in vain for someone to stand up for them. We must stand up for victims today in the face of unabashed fascism and shameless hate.
Good-hearted Christians must join with other people of faith to protect the weakest of our society. The lesson from history is clear.
