What makes a house a home? If there’s a pat answer to that age old question, I don’t know what it is. The answer is likely different for everyone. For me, though, the answer has to do with connections to my childhood. I grew up in a very small town. It’s much bigger now than when I was a kid, but it’s still on the small side. Anyway, townsfolk never had much. Most of us were not starving poor, but... Read more

Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. ~Gal. 3:24-25 Believers are no longer under the law. We have been justified, are in the process of being sanctified, and are waiting to be glorified. Why, then, is it so easy to live as if we must measure up to the law? We should be doing or best to live... Read more

Late last year, I read a book by Eric Metaxas entitled Amazing Grace. It’s the story of William Wilberforce, and his quest to abolish slavery. Earlier this year, I read a book heavily endorsed by Eric Metaxas and written by Karen Swallow Prior, entitled Fierce Convictions. It’s the story of Hannah More, a companion and fellow warrior, if you will, of William Wilberforce. Together and with others, they fought for decades in a battle of moral conflict to end the atrocity... Read more

There’s something that fascinates me about how God paints a unique picture every day with clouds – or a lack of clouds. I enjoy mountains and lakes and forests, but they don’t change much in one person’s lifetime. Clouds, though, are in a constant state of modification, and I find myself snapping several pictures a week in an attempt to capture our ever changing, Colorado skies. These photos are often taken from my car, on a short trek, or in a plane. I’m genuinely terrified of flying. I easily get claustrophobic, so sandwiching myself in with... Read more

Another week, another shooting. The media reports, we grieve. We pray for the families and wonder why. One has to ask herself if this isn’t some form of what Einstein would call insanity, because as government and law enforcement, we keep doing the same thing and getting the same results: Shooter walks in, kills people, is allowed to go down in a blaze of glory, whether that means dying while doing something he deems worth his life, or whether that means being... Read more

When I left for DC on July 3, my emotions ran high. Excitement was what I felt first and foremost as I anticipated spending some much needed time with my daughter, her husband, and our second grandbaby. And if the plan panned out, I would also behold a host of historical sites, monuments, and documents I’ve been longing to behold since I was … oooohhhh …. ten. That’s 33 years of wishin’ and hopin’ and thinkin’ and prayin’ for a grand ol’ tour. And yet, I... Read more
