Easter Is an Invitation to New Life

The tomb is empty. The stone has been rolled away. Death has been defeated. Easter is not a metaphor for new beginnings. It is an invitation for a new beginning. It is the declaration that Jesus Christ is alive. The Resurrection is your invitation.  How will you align your life? How will you live this new life that Jesus gave to you?

Why the Resurrection Matters

If Jesus did not rise, our faith is empty. 1 Corinthians 15:14 tells us, “Then we are also false witnesses to God, because we testified against God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if in fact the dead are not raised.” (usccb.org) Easter is the celebration of the Resurrection. Do you believe? Do you live your belief? We know that because He rose, sin and death are not the final word. There is more. There is hope. Resurrection means hope is not wishful thinking. It is secured for us by God’s one and only begotten Son.

We can seek the support of the Scriptures

  • Matthew 28:5–6  “Then the angel said to the women in reply, ‘Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified.  He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.’” (usccb.org) If we seek, we will find him. But we have to look.
  • John 11:25–26Jesus told her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’”  (usccb.org) Know that Jesus has given you eternal life through your belief in Him. How will you live knowing this truth?
  • 1 Corinthians 15:55–57 “‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (usccb.org) Victory has been given to us through Jesus and his fight over death. Eternal life is ours. Claim it. Live it.
  • Romans 6:4We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life.” (usccb.org) Our Baptism seals our connection with Jesus as long as we believe.

God gave us His Son and sacrificed Him to show us there is Eternal Life. We are invited. Do you believe? The Resurrection is the proof.

The Personal Turn

Easter is not only something that happened a long time ago. It is something that can happen within you.You just need to let it. Remember that resurrection is not only about eternal life someday. It is about new life now. Today. Open your heart and open your mind. Let Jesus in. You can receive forgiveness for your wrong-doings, your sins. You can live a new life. Freedom is offered by the One who created you and loves you. Accept this great gift. It is waiting.

You were created with a special purpose. Find it. Allow God to lead you to it and then live it. This will give you the belonging you were made for. God created each of us as a part of the Body to work together for the good of humanity and for the love of God. Know who you are, and if you don’t, take this opportunity to discover who God created you to be. Discover what gifts and talents were bestowed upon you to live your purpose. Embrace your God-given identity and live it. This will ignite your internal resurrection. It will enable you to rise, align and shine the way you were created to.

Easter is a Clear Invitation to Jesus

If you have never truly placed your trust in Jesus, Easter is your invitation. You do not need to have all of the answers. Cleaning yourself up first is not necessary. You just simply need to come. Jesus is inviting you. Romans 10:9–10 explains clearly, “for, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.” (usccb.org)

It is quite simple:

  • Believe He is Lord. Know it in your heart.
  • Receive His forgiveness. Feel the release of letting go.
  • Invite Him into your life. Confess it with your mouth.

Live in Hope through Easter

Know that the tomb is empty, hope is alive and the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you today. It lives in you just as Romans 8:11  declares, ”If the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also, through his Spirit that dwells in you.” (usccb.org)

If you have never placed your trust in Jesus or if you have wandered and long to return, now is the time. Easter is your invitation. You do not need perfect faith. God will provide you with words. You don’t need polished words. You simply need a willing heart. Resurrection begins with surrender.

Start with this prayer:

Jesus,

I believe You are the Son of God.

I believe You died for my sins and rose again.

I confess that I need You.

Forgive me. Restore me. Make me new.

I surrender my life to You and receive the gift of Your grace.

Teach me to follow You.

Fill me with Your Spirit and lead me into the life You created me to live.

Thank You for loving me.

Thank You for rising so I can rise too.

Amen.

If you prayed that prayer sincerely, know this, you are not alone. Remember that the resurrection is not only something you celebrate; it is something you now carry. Seek out Scripture. Find a faith community. Keep walking. The risen Christ walks with you.

The tomb is empty.

Hope is alive.

Because He lives, you can begin again.
