New Jersey camel picks the NY Giants in this year’s Super Bowl

Princess is her name, and football is her game. Predicting football game winners, that is.

Oh, and did I mention that Princess is a camel?

Move over, Las Vegas oddsmakers. This prognosticating camel at the Popcorn Park Zoo, has been giving her pick for NFL games every week for years. According to the zoo’s website, every week, one of the hosts from radio station 107.5 FM visits the zoo and writes on his hand the names of two teams playing that week. He then holds Princess’ favorite snack, a graham cracker, in each hand and lets her eat one cracker. Whichever hand she picks is her predicted winner for that week’s’ game.

She ended this season with a respectable 54% after an early success rate of  70% in her first ten games. According to a report in the Associated Press, Princess “has correctly picked the winner of five of the last six Super Bowls. She went 14 and 6 predicting regular season and playoff games this year, and has a lifetime record of 88-51.”

And her pick for the Super Bowl Patriots vs Giants? Princess picks the Giants.

The Popcorn Park Zoo is part of the Associated Humane Societies. Founded in 1906, the group is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, comprised of three shelters located in Newark, Tinton Falls, and Forked River, which includes Popcorn Park Zoo. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park Zoo is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
