Hampi and Ancient Vijayanagar Being Digitized

Hampi and Ancient Vijayanagar Being Digitized July 29, 2016

The book would be organized in four parts. Part 1 would detail efforts and techniques for modeling and representing the tangible heritage of Hampi like reconstruction of damaged structures, realistic walk-throughs and haptic rendering. Part 2 includes chapters which detail analysis and digital restoration of artefacts like mural paintings, inscriptions and sculptures and mobile-based visual search of artefacts. Part 3 includes chapters on architectural and social life recreation and living traditions of Hampi. Part 4 details knowledge-based archiving and exploration of cultural heritage. Readers of this book will get access to extensive research done on the digital preservation of history, mythology, art and architecture and culture of the world heritage site of Hampi in Karnataka, related to the Vijayanagara dynasty in medieval India. They will also get to read about multifarious techniques developed by Indian technical research groups for preserving the tangible as well as intangible cultural heritage of the region. These techniques are generic enough to be applied in heritage preservation efforts of other historical sites in the world as well.

I thought I’d list a few interesting videos about Hampi, just to get everyone acquainted.
