The Scrolls of Deborah was released on February 20, 2024. It is a testament to the enduring legacy of Deborah and Rebekah. Two extraordinary women whose stories challenge and reshape our understanding of history, faith, and the limitless possibilities of the human spirit.

About The Book 

 This book explores seminal Biblical/Jewish history that reignites old stories with a fresh lens for our current time.

Modern-day theologists and readers deserve a new and enlightened perspective on life in biblical times. The stories we’ve heard are not the only stories. This book is an eye-opening experience. 

It is a new take on an old story that can ring truer for today’s reader. This story allows the reader to look through the feminine gaze. To hear, see, and acknowledge their efforts.

While reading this book, I was fascinated that Egyptians believed in God. They called him Yah and had a simplistic way of perceiving Him. They were able to connect with Him through simple breathing techniques, that elevated their God consciousness. This technique is now called yoga or meditation.

 This book was more than a good read. It was inspirational and refreshing. It is a sensory journey across holy, historic lands in a day-to-day, believable, and realistic way. 

This book is great for women’s bible study or book club. It is full of complexity and opportunities for discussion. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 

About The Author

Esther Goldenberg, a Chicago native now residing in Israel, is an author, educator, and mother to two children. Though once a reluctant reader, Esther’s innate fondness for captivating narratives led her to discover a deep passion for writing. Her eagerly anticipated debut novel, The Scrolls of Deborah, is a work of Biblical fiction and the first installment of the Desert Songs Trilogy, published in February 2024. 

This recipe is dedicated to our Main character Deborah, whose journey began with a sweet treat her grandmother gave her upon her first visit. Date drops. I hope you enjoy them as much as she did.

Date Drops Recipe

Ingredients

• 8 oz. Pitted Medjool dates
• 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
• 2 Tablespoon water
• 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
• 1/3 cup of sugar

Cooking Directions

1. Blend dates in a food processor until well chopped. 
2. Place in a small bowl.
3. Add cinnamon, cardamom, and 1 Tablespoon of water at a time.
4. Blend to form a stiff paste.
5. Add Walnuts and work in thoroughly with your hands.
6. Shape into small balls.
7. Roll in powdered sugar.

Serve.
