I love mornings!
Aaahhh. Sunday mornings.
Sunday mornings, in the early morning in the spring, summer, and most of fall, or Sunday mornings not so early in the winter, are perfect times. Yeah, I like candles, what about it? They’re all through the house. I like them and the way they smell. They kind of offset the dogs if you know what I mean. Walmart has them cheap. I have come to the confident decision I enjoy, actually seek out peaceful moments. I was in bed and asleep at midnight on New Years, only to be woken up by small arms fire and what seemed like mortar rounds. It sounded like Baghdad during The Surge. Of course, living in downtown Phoenix, like any other major city has its fireworks issues. But the low lights and soft music, yeah, that works. It is here, I wonder sometimes, if God is in our struggles?
We need peaceful mornings.
It gets me peacefully going in the morning. We need peaceful mornings in this world. An afternoon and evening would be nice too. Candles, along with snoring dogs are therapeutic. I don’t know about you, but I have come to discover the sounds of a dog with, apparently, a deviated septum, who snores like a longshoreman in a barracks, is soothing. God is funny. I think I can see him smile and simply saying-and always in a south Texas-cowboy kinda voice ‘ya like that, don’t-chaw?’
Yeah Dad, I do.
‘Thought ya would. How about a good cup of joe?’ How do you turn that down? This offer, from the one who’s first miracle was to make wine at a wedding.
…a warm balm to the soul.
An added good cup of coffee is like a warm balm to the soul. ‘Please,’ I would answer.
So, somehow, the day, like all the others, starts off with a few minutes of peace, soothing sounds, and something to warm my body. Huh.
Soon enough, the day, every day, is going to kick in and the world is going to enter with drums, loud noise-and that’s just in the house. Then we leave and go to work or simply out into the world. Someone is going to scream at someone else and then post it on TV or some ‘influencers’ fake homie page he/she/them/it post from their Aunt Yolanda’s basement. The source of the trauma and drama is well known and by ourselves, there isn’t much we can do about it. We can try and all of us do. “I got this,” is the term often used. But we don’t. We have it for a while but it’s like someone baits a hook and lures us in. We don’t have a thing except a growing frustration with our life, which causes us to look for that peace elsewhere. ‘It’s gotta be out here-somewhere’ https://www.patheos.com/blogs/insideourgooeyminds/.
…to breath.
But right now, it is your time to breath. Dare, for a moment, there is A Plan, https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/Jeremiah/29/11and it is perfectly written for you. I know, it’s a shitstorm right now, but somehow-somehow-it is perfect in its essence. We all have storms, and they are all bad. The storm is needed for some reason only the Author knows.
But breath. It’s perfect. Psalm 46:10 – NIV – He says, “Be still, and know …You’re not alone-ever. It just seems that way sometimes when in reality, there just isn’t anything to say except-
‘Be still and know that I am God.’
But right now-well-enjoy the ride-and the coffee.
