What happened on 9/11 is something that all Muslims will condemn forever, and we will continue to pray that God saves humanity from terrorists.
However, no one should be confused that Islam is a religion of terror. The wars fought during the time of the Prophet Muhammad were defensive, in accordance with the Qur’anic teaching:
“Permission to fight is granted to those against whom war is made, because they have been wronged, and Allah indeed has power to help them. They are those who have been driven out of their homes unjustly only because they affirmed, ‘Our Lord is Allah’. If Allah did not repel aggression of some people by means of others, cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is often commemorated, would surely be destroyed” (22:40-41).
As can be seen from these fundamental verses, any motive other than safeguarding of the faith and putting down mischief against it is inconsistent with the true notion of Jihad.
The Prophet Muhammad taught that anyone who went forth to battle for the sake of spoils, or for the display of his bravery, or for any other worldly motive, disentitled himself from any spiritual reward. He also said that a person is not Muslim by whom tounge and hand other people are not safe.
These are but a few examples from Islamic sources teach Muslims to promote peace and love among mankind — not the terrible violence perpetrated by so-called Muslim terrorists on 9/11.
