If you believe that sex is just another form of recreation, then October 3, 2014

are there any limits to when teen sex isn’t appropriate?

Oh, sure, of course, it should be consensual — though there’s a bit of an issue in that, legally, a teen can’t consent to sex, and I don’t know how one reconciles the notion that a teen can’t consent to sex with an older man but is fully capable of consenting with a same-aged peer.

But if you’ve openly decided that teens have every bit as much a right to sexual pleasure as adults (per my prior post), where do you stop?  Is there an age cut-off, and, if so, why?  Is a sex-having-teen morally obliged to get IUDed or implanted to avoid pregnancy?  What if she can’t handle the side-effects?  Is taking the pill good enough?  What about more-or-less taking the pill with a few misses, or using condoms?  Or is this an absolute sort of thing, regardless of consequences?

Of course, I write this knowing that the liberal bloggers who say this aren’t exactly going to beat a path to my door to tell me how far they go in their opinion.  But it does seem as if they don’t recognize that The Giver and Brave New World were meant to be dystopias.
